looks kinda alpha-ey.
[sp]triggering that shit at the end lmao[/sp]
Jesus those footstep sounds.
Lovely day for it!
My god! Someones dead!
According to their kickstarter this game is about
paranoia and survival, in a drugged-out, dystopian English city in 1964. From the studio that brought you Contrast.
I understand that it's a pre-alpha but.. Maybe don't show it off right now then? Because it doesn't look very good in its current state, looks a bit of a mess really. The vibe they're going for feels a bit cliche honestly.. I had this feeling when I saw the trailers but I figured the actual game itself might pull off the creepy dystopian vibe with a bit more subtlety and class, this just seems to confirm my previous feelings. It looks like a buggy Bioshock with "creepy" masks and radio personalities shoehorned in. It just lacks a certain level of restraint I guess.

What's even the point of this video honestly? It does nothing but make the game look terrible.. There's really nothing appealing or good about this video, I can't possibly understand why the developers would be willing to, let alone want to, show off their game in this state.
Yikes

They got a lot of traction from their video advertising.
I thought this would be an interesting game until they started announcing procedurally-generated maps. It's always a neat concept, but absolutely terrible for world-building.

I think it's mostly to give the overall atmosphere of the game and sort of a taste as to what the survival aspect is going to be like. But from what I hear, the final version is going to be pretty different, with story missions and some more variation in the areas. I don't know how true that is, though, so don't take it as fact.
This looks like absolute wank.
Dead Island with British people instead of zombies??
Seriously should have turned Vsync on. Looks okay. Very indie for some reason.
This video is off the kickstarter page it really explains what game is about in abit more detail, just think the film equilibrium.

I had a feeling this would end up being very, very underwhelming from the first time I saw it. Which is unfortunate, because the concept was certainly interesting.
As soon as the word "procedural generation" are mentioned I immediately check out. Most developers who use procedural generation do it as a means of reducing the amount of art assets they need and to expand how much gameplay they can have. This makes games incredibly repetitive, and the layouts of levels usually end up being overwhelmingly dull.
As far as I'm concerned the only way to make procedural generation work would be to include significantly more art assets and such than you would find in a hand crafted game. Which of course goes entirely against why it's used by most developers.
I didn't get to hear what the most important thing was :c

Damn that is some tiny-ass text. Didn't even see it.

Honestly this is my biggest problem with it. It feels pretty uninspired
Then again I felt the same about Don't Starve and it turned out pretty good. And honestly even if it lacks tact/polish/inspiration it might be a game that just satisfies your average middle school game nerd's list of cool video game things enough to make it still sell well. That's pretty much the story of Slender, Minecraft, survival games in general, etc.
Got some Pathologic vibes from the atmosphere, which is always welcome.
It's too early to say anything at this point though, hope the work pays off.
