I'm looking for headphones similar to these: http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/shop_online/headphones/audio_headphones/on_ear_headphones/index.jsp The best on-ear headphones you can find, not too big. I don't really have a price limit.
Skullcandy?
Do not buy: Skullcandy Bose Dr. Dre's They are overrated, sound bad, and overpriced. I would go with Sennheiser, Altec Lansing, or Shure.
Unrelated but I've never seen the advantage of on ear headphones. Seems like a stupid design to me IMO. But as said before me, avoid Bose and Skullcandy's.
sennheiser hd-280s
On ear is good because it is more portable than over ear designs, and can provide some noise isolation. They also provide a better sound than in ear. Good thread for this: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=868300

On ear headphones are NOT comfortable and they leak amazing amounts of sound. Over ears if made right, eg, hd215 surround your ears with padding without touching, so much room to let your ears breathe when listening. Skullcandys are not comfortable, and deliver a distorted shitty representation of the music, despite idiots rambling about how amazing the base is. They know jackshit about what true music listeners want. Get some high end sennheisers.. True high end ones are TRUE AUDIO engineering at its best There are a few unknown companies that make fantastic high end headphones but you are more secured with a better more trustworthy GERMAN company

Although you are right. The reason you would choose on ear is simply because they are generally easier to fold up and take up less space while still not raping the music to the point ear buds do. I personally have my own Sennheiser headphones, which I love. Them not being portable(compared to a skullcandy or ear buds, for instance) isn't a problem since I have a backpack.
Ultimate Ears.
Wrong my friend. Skullcandy are the best headphones I have ever used. Depends what kind you get. The big DJ type are amazing!
No. Sony MDR 7506 I use these for my Recording Engineering class. They're recommended for it too.
I would have to recommend the Sony MDR-XD100 headphones. They're excellent, and their price is not too lavish. http://reviews.cnet.com/headphones/sony-mdr-xd100-headphones/4505-7877_7-31299089.html
Ultimate Ears.
I second this.
i'd go with either nice around ears or nice in ears. sennheiser for around ears and shure (scl 2/3/4) or ultimate ears if you're picking in ears. these both have the advantage of less leaked sound and a higher comfort since they're not actually pushing against your ears like on ears do. personally i'd go in ear, it's more portable, and generally looks better.
Them being german has no real relevance to their ability to make audio equipment
it was a joke, Germans make great cars.. I wouldn't say any other country was renowned for engineering like that. GERMAN ENGINEERING :v:
No. Sony MDR 7506 I use these for my Recording Engineering class. They're recommended for it too.
I admit my stupidness, I just picked up some Sony headphones, they're the shit.

http://reviews.cnet.com/headphones/sony-mdr-xd100-headphones/4505-7877_7-31299089.html
I totally agree, Sony has incredible headphones, I have some Sony Studio headphones from about 5 years ago, they still sound incredible!!! and brand new they are still worth 100 bucks. Sony makes good headphones :) p.S. if you have the cash, get some of their studio quality stuff, I use ones much like these: http://www.audioreview.com/mfr/sony/headphones/mdr-7506/PRD_118049_2750crx.aspx
I've got a pair AKG K240's (Studio), I got not too long ago. Sound amazing. Crystal clear highs, great mids and low-end too. But especially the highs are amazing. :iia: They weren't expensive either, 990 SEK (which is about $135). Oh, and they're incredibly comfortable too. They are discontinued however, so they might slightly difficult to find. Link: http://www.akg.com/site/products/powerslave,id,252,pid,252,nodeid,2,_language,EN.html
audiotechnica m50's are pretty good and they're the perfect size imo. You can get them for a 100 bucks if you find a retailer that doesn't rip people off.
What are so bad about Skullcandy? I think they are really good quality headphones. Anyways, I would recommend Beats by Dr. Dre. My friend got them and they are really nice and awesome sound.
What are so bad about Skullcandy? I think they are really good quality headphones. Anyways, I would recommend Beats by Dr. Dre. My friend got them and they are really nice and awesome sound.
Well lets start off this way, what other headphones have you used before?
Do not buy: Skullcandy Bose Dr. Dre's They are overrated, sound bad, and overpriced. I would go with Sennheiser, Altec Lansing, or Shure.
I disagree strongly with that. Yes Bose is not cheap, but I've never heard any bad sound coming out of a Bose product.

http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-PX-200-II-Headphones/dp/B002SP1QX0 I find these to be great. Good isolation, portable, sound good and barely push against my head.
I disagree strongly with that. Yes Bose is not cheap, but I've never heard any bad sound coming out of a Bose product.
I'd agree with you on that. Bose ain't cheap but I have a hard time believing people when they say they're bad.
My friend got them and they are really nice and awesome sound.
Your friends a nut... unless he got em for under £100 brand new... then he wasted his money, its a gimmick.
Sennheiser HD 595 I've been using them for years and can vouch for their high build quality, comfortable feel and amazing sound quality. Really good headphones. Or take a look at the headphones higher in the HD series (600, 650, 800) if you want to get into serious money.
I disagree strongly with that. Yes Bose is not cheap, but I've never heard any bad sound coming out of a Bose product.
That's because you've never heard a Bose speaker set up with a real A/V reciever instead of one of Bose's. You should probably read this. Bose's strategy is essentially to create auditory illusions through digital trickerey and very good marketing.
I've got the Sony MDR-XB300 and I love them! These are really comfy and have great sound! Oh yeah, they're on-ear headphones too.
