---------------------------- The Democrats officially announced they would support equal marriage for all.
The Democratic National Convention has kicked off, announcing support for equal marriage, and has been praised for representing, and embracing the LGBT community in the US. The Democrats’ platform, announced in Charlotte, North Carolina, endorsed the move towards equal marriage rights for all, as well as abortion rights, but the actual attendance of the convention is also noteworthy because of the LGBT presence there. The Associated Press reported that 486 LGBT delegates attended the Democratic Party’s National Convention, making up over 8% of the total attendees. Speakers include three openly gay members of congress, as well as a record turnout of LGBT delegates. Jerame Davis of National Stonewall Democrats said: “We’ve been an underrepresented demographic in politics for a long time,” he said, ”Finally seeing us appropriately represented is just a thrill.” As well as supporting the right to equal marriage for all, the platform read: “We also support the freedom of churches and religious entities to decide how to administer marriage as a religious sacrament without government interference.’’ It also stated an opposition to: ‘‘federal and state constitutional amendments and other attempts to deny equal protection under the law’’. The Democrats’ party position on LGBT issues and abortion, as well as other political issues, contrasts strongly with the Republican Party platform which was announced last week. The GOP platform would ban equal marriage, and all abortion. The Democratic platform acknowledged the vastly differing policies: ‘‘This election is not simply a choice between two candidates or two political parties, but between two fundamentally different paths for our country and our families,’’ ====================== Source: http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2012/09/05/democrats-endorse-equal-marriage-and-appropriately-represents-lgbt-community/
HOLY FUCKING SHIT! The Democratic Party is now the antithesis of the Republican Party.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT! The Democratic Party is now the antithesis of the Republican Party.
Yay, more bipolar politics and bipartisanship...
Well this is nice, unfortunately the decision to allow same sex marriage is up to the states and not the federal government
Steps of progress. [editline]5th September 2012[/editline]
Well this is nice, unfortunately the decision to allow same sex marriage is up to the states and not the federal government
Just a small piece of legislation standing in the way of making the federal government recognize others marriages (DOMA)
Well, now that the Democratic party "supports gay marriage" they are sure to gain the votes of many closeted and already out homosexuals that may have been on the fence in this year's election.
Yay, more bipolar politics and bipartisanship...
Well what can you do when one party is in full reverse and the other is in full throttle ahead. Can you really blame the ones that keep on pushing for progress?
Yay, more bipolar politics and bipartisanship...
they've essentially been fallating the republicans for the last 8 years, one's mouth does get tired believe it or not
Yeah, The Democrats should not avoid being right about issues, even if it means they become even more different than the Republicans.
Wow okay, did stupidity and ignorance called in sick or what?
Wow okay, did stupidity and ignorance called in sick or what?
Republicans just hoarded it all.
Was just listening to Michelle Obama's speech at DNC that she wrote herself. So very positive and optimistic. If I were American I'd be a democrat for sure.
So very positive and optimistic. If I were American I'd be a democrat for sure.
I believe 90% of the people outside of the US would vote democrat. But mainly due to the lack of choice. Here in the Netherlands elections are coming up in a few weeks, and there are 4 major parties, with about 3 to 4 other parties that could play a role in formations, plus another few parties nobody cares about but still exist. And we have just 17 million people.
Well. In denmark we have 17 parties that all range from Democrat to Very fucking democrat. [editline]5th September 2012[/editline] And most of their policies kinda ice-skate around ethics since they all have pretty much the same opinions on them, apart from Christian-Democrat party, who wants everyone to follow christian doctrine. So everything we ever hear is about funding this and funding that. No one ever talks about doing entirely away with student-checks or healthcare. They either want to trim them or boost them and we're talking 1-5% at a time. We're not very radical or diverse over here.

[editline]5th September 2012[/editline] Dude I can't stop choking up it's so touching ;v;

It's quite fun to see her try to control her rabid and fully retarded racism. Also we still rant about politics like it's a matter of life and death :v: Fun for the whole family.
At least her "heir" is less charismatic. No more public executions of minorities as potential policies.
I don't understand your politics. Aren't republicans supposed to all be about smaller government, people controlling less etc. So why is it that the republicans aren't doing any of this, and the democrats are?
Yay, more bipolar politics and bipartisanship...
there would only be two parties no matter what. even if one of the obscure parties somehow won the election, that could only really happen through stealing away all the Democrat/Republican voters and essentially taking their place.
At least her "heir" is less charismatic. No more public executions of minorities as potential policies.
And she'll only settle for deportation of all "muslamic" people as a minimum. Shit, now that I think about it, she would probably be a fine Republican candidate.

Libertarians fill that role now.
Yay, more bipolar politics and bipartisanship...
If the two poles are "everything that is vile and wrong" and "not pure evil" then let's partisan it up dude
Well this is nice, unfortunately the decision to allow same sex marriage is up to the states and not the federal government
There are ways equal marriage rights could be enforced by the government.
I don't understand your politics.
I don't think anybody does TBH.
Aren't republicans supposed to all be about smaller government, people controlling less etc. So why is it that the republicans aren't doing any of this, and the democrats are?
10-20 years ago? Sure. Today? The GOP is all about turning us into a theocracy.
Well this is nice, unfortunately the decision to allow same sex marriage is up to the states and not the federal government
I think after all these years, with America imposing human rights and democracy everywhere... Shouldn't it be time they got both themselves? It's starting to look comical in the light of prior actions.
I think after all these years, with America imposing human rights and democracy everywhere... Shouldn't it be time they got both themselves? It's starting to look comical in the light of prior actions.
The irony is quite hilarious and also saddening at the same time.
Steps of progress
More like blatant opportunism.
More like blatant opportunism.
So would it be better if they said "LOL No. Fuck the faggots." or what?
More like blatant opportunism.
Ok. Did you know the republican party's preferential practices mimicks Satanism more than Christianity? Thought not, you gullible blop of bible indoctination.
Ok. Did you know the republican party's preferential practices mimicks Satanism more than Christianity?
Yay, more bipolar politics and bipartisanship...
I agree, this is awful. The Democrats and Republicans should work together, compromise, and form a middle ground when it comes to the topic of basic human dignity.
