Workers should be given time off if workplace temperatures hit 30C, a Labour MP has demanded.

Ahahaha. I spent last summer working in a warehouse that hit 108F during the heat wave. Do British people melt at that temperature just like their roads?
I think it really has to be a case by case basis with heat, will an underground lab face the same issues a mechanical shop with no A/C might have?
Wish I could go home when it hits 30C, I would be at home from May-Sept
Look, while it's insanely tempting to hoist your temperature superiority, the Englishmen have a more delicate capacity for climate, so this is proportionately just as hot as your hottest days. So let's just avoid that, shall we?

1) Acclimatisation.
2) Infrastructure. most work places probably arn't equipped to deal with the heat.
3) Its about 2-3 times hotter than our usual summer.

It's workplace temperature, so an office may be 21c with air con, so they wouldn't go home.
But a kitchen with no A/C may well go higher than 30c, so they would go home.
Okay yes I understand acclimation and etc. but this is getting silly.

Clearly you don't :v:

ahahah you had to work in unpleasant conditions. haha. classic
I still think it'd be hilarious to go to Britain, and just be not even mildly phased while everybody is dying around you.
In Minnesota one time I saw a bunch of construction workers sitting outside of a bank with a temperature sign waiting for it to go from -39 to -40, right as I drove by it went to -40 and they all threw their reflective gear off and ran away.

We aren't, the media just thinks we are. If you go outside in Britain now you'll see everyone having a good time - like we do in the snow.

not sure how you can mock anyone when you're using fahrenheit to describe the temperature

Make this bannable please.

Not as fun as going to australia in your "winter" and walking about in a tshirt and shorts whilst everyone is freezing to death around you.

Despite what the media says, we don't actually complain as much as this guy:
Ahahaha. I spent last summer working in a warehouse that hit 108F during the heat wave. Do British people melt at that temperature just like their roads?
It's just "oh it's hot and uncomfortable" as opposed to "I had to work in a hot warehouse. It was awful, they measured in fahrenheit"

Do you really think we care about the hell you were born and live in?
No, we don't because somewhat surprisingly we're not used to warm weather.
the heat is uncomfortable but not to such a degree that its unworkable

also this is the UK - air conditioning is much less prevalent here than in the US

Wow holy fuck.
The first post, really?
the heat is uncomfortable but not to such a degree that its unworkable
I can imagine manual labor like being a builder or something would be pretty bad, working 8 hours outside in 30C heat with 80%+ humidity is probably something that even all these yanks who supposedly work in 45C all year would complain about

I can only really think of this.
Good going, you sure are witty.

You work in a warehouse? But I thought you were a used car salesman.
im going to sue you for false advertising

Because obviously if you can tolerate high temperatures, everyone in Britain should have to suck it up. You do know that children have died due to hyperthermia, right?
-late-

every fucking thread

At this point I'm getting a feeling that these people literally jerk off to their country's average temperature.
