Apparently he is having a cameo in the film, I wouldn't be surprised if he was forced to do a cameo due to legal bullying and then forced to say something good about the film.

I'd say that the biggest and earliest red flag (outside of the fact that production was completely and utterly fucked from point 1 and Sony seems to have no idea what they're doing lately with their movie productions) is the fact that there are blatant lies in the trailers, from teaser 1, that the movie is a sequel... sorta. Even the marketing seems to have no idea that it's a remake that barely has anything to do with the originals, but [sp]apparently ends with a shitty confrontation with not-Gozer and they fight their logo instead of the Stay-Puft man[/sp] The cameos aren't even of the old characters, it's just the actors

Just like Bill Murray initially wasn't interested in the reboot, but they implied that if he wasn't, it'd be bad press, so he said something like "eh yeah, they got my blessing" or something like that. How anyone thinks he's being serious is beyond me. It's pretty obvious Sony has some legal stuff forcing him to endorse the film, and he's giving such an over the top endorsement to try and communicate its fucking [b]SHIT[/b]
