British Airways says it has apologised to a High Court judge who told how his luggage had gone astray when he was overseeing a case involving the airline. Mr Justice Peter Smith spelled out the problems he encountered after flying to Florence with his wife in early July in a written ruling on the case, which involves allegations of air cargo charges being fixed but has yet to reach its final stages. The judge said in the ruling, published in late July, that he had decided to pass the case to another judge. But he said his ''investigation'' into what happened to his luggage would carry on ''in a private capacity''. He said he would pursue that investigation ''with the vigour for which I am known''. A British Airways spokeswoman said: "We have apologised for the delayed baggage and offered a full explanation."
https://uk.news.yahoo.com/judge-face-probe-over-ba-luggage-rant-072419509.html#Lp69a11
How hard can you even fuck up?
That airline fucked with the wrong guy. I hope he tears them a new one.
It's frustrating how much the airlines don't give a single flying fuck about your luggage no matter how many fragile stickers are on it

They're classified as firearms by the TSA and any transport of firearms get extra tracking.

For example, if BA at Heathrow spent 10 minutes extra removing things marked as 'fragile' carefully, it would cost them a whole lot of money. Sure, they could modify the schedules to account for more careful handling of all baggage but they're just not making enough of a fortune if they do that.
I've got no experience with british airways, but the handlers have to huge amounts of stuff distributed safely across the floorplan of the aircraft, all in as little as 20 minutes, in which catering has to restock everything, the cleaners have to reclean everything, the crew might possibly change, the engineers have to run the pre flight checks, pilots needs to run calculations and checks and a shitload more i'm probably forgetting. I doubt it's (most) of them not giving a shit, it's more that they don't have the time.

There have been many sweeping changes at the 'ground' level of aviation in the last half century, but it seems to me like most of the issues that have persisted are corporate ones. Concern for money far outweighs concern for passengers within the upper echelons of airlines. We can only thank goodness that aircrew and ground staff still prioritise safety, even if they do the job as quickly as they can.
Ain't our problem, it's marked as fragile for a fucking reason.
Not always, lots of people just stick "fragile" on their bags for no reason, or just leave them on there after legitimate use. It's apparently a similar story in the courier world, where every company apart from Amazon sticks "fragile" on their boxes, even if they're sending pillows or something
