Obamacare opponents urge people to burn their Obamacare registration cards - except there's no such

Title should say they've printed their own but you only get about 30 seconds to change the title now
With less than eight weeks to go before the official launch of the new health care marketplaces under the federal health law, backers of the law are ramping up to encourage people to sign up.
But there's another effort gearing up this month as well. Opponents of the health care law are making one last-ditch effort to run Obamacare off the rails before it gets fully implemented.
Probably the most aggressive effort is coming from FreedomWorks, a conservative advocacy group. It's urging people, particularly young people, not to sign up for health insurance.
"They can skip the exchange, pay the fine, and in doing that, do what's best for them financially, and we hope help hasten the collapse of Obamacare," said Dean Clancy, the group's Vice President for Policy.
FreedomWorks has also created a bit of civil disobedience theater as part of its campaign — inviting people to symbolically burn (fictional) Obamacare insurance cards. Of course there is no such thing as an Obamacare card. But that's not a problem. FreedomWorks is making its own, and distributing them.
My stepmom honestly believes Obamacare is a separate health plan like UHC which everybody has to opt-in for. Whenever we talk about it I tell here it's a series of regulation on the Health Insurance industry to try to end cheap and deadly business practices such as "pre-existing conditions" and lower the cost of both health care and health insurance for middle-to-lower class people who can't affording to buy their own insurance
I think instead of worrying about insurance being pricey, they should look at what costs what in a hospital and say hey, stop scamming the country, and then in turn insurance companies would probably make it cheaper.
Look at this for example

It's a little paper cup you put ketchup in at McDonalds. But in hospitals, they bring you your pills in them and they're called 'Medication Transportation Systems' or something similar, and cost between $12 and $20. Insurance is nice to have for large operations, but for something small you just about need it, too, because of bullshit like this. My 10 minute visit to get a single shot of Marcaine to numb up extremely severe pain cost me $600. An entire vial of Marcaine cost $20 so what the fuck?

the us government has no direct effect on the price of healthcare because we dont have nationalised and centralised healthcare system
if the us political system is ineffective at just passing insurance legislation then it sure as hell wont stand a chance administrating, paying for, and distributing care to 313 million people

Wait what.
I must try this next time I'm at McDonalds.
Amazing the way they can charge so much for so little, but that's life. You Americans seem to get fucked over the worst.

I recently visited a dermatologist with no insurance. It was a 10 minute visit with nothing prescribed and barely a full check up that cost me $200.
Maybe it was the pamphlet.
Nice BIC product placement!

don't actually do this, it ruins the structural integrity of the little cup and then you have ketchup everywhere
source: I tried this 6 months ago in public and it was awful
As a german, I can't even begin to imagine how it is possible to not have a health insurance. I can go to the doctor and get checked up any time I want for free, and my insurance pays for it. Paying several hundreds dollars for something like a check up is something that just is impossible to imagine for me.
You americans are barbaric.

exactly what I thought.

Here are some more cool cuphacks. If you live in the states of Oregon or Idaho: if any employee comes up to you while you are standing at the condiment table and using your deft, lithe origamist's fingers to gently fold out the rim of a paper ketchup cup like you were folding a rice paper crane or the most delicate paper Chrysanthemum and says to you "Sir what are you doing. Sir, there's a line forming behind you. Sir..." you are legally entitled to a free soda as recompense for employee harassment.
Also, if you turn your ketchup cup upside down, like so (artist's rendering):

you now have a pedestal on which you can rest individual french fries before eating them or even (with a little imagination) a bunch of tiny destructible houses which your McRib Kaiju can destroy in a rampage. I'm planning to be paid actual money to write things like this for buzzfeed so please like and subscribe to my posts if you want more

I thought I was the only one who did this.

You can then unfold them completely flat so you can dip your burger in it easier
you can not use one at all and just pour the ketchup directly into your hands

wtf you abnormal
If you're urging people not to have health insurance and therefore choose to have no access to healthcare, perhaps that's a clue that you're on the wrong side of things.
don't actually do this, it ruins the structural integrity of the little cup and then you have ketchup everywhere

However, if you get a lid to a cup, you can also fill it with ketchup without it leaking through the straw hole.
Getting back on topic instead of talking about a stupid McDonald ketchup cup.
America's healthcare is insanely high. Some people can't even get even insurance because they are living on the edge of going broke.
For example: This person has had implants. The silicon in the implants leaked and now the hospital wants her to pay nearly 10,000$ for suregy for the silicon that damaged her back. This person barely gets by with running a family-owned restaurant.
The last time I went to a docter it was around 120$ (With a discount) for a fucking check-up.
wtf you abnormal
Doesn't everyone do that???
I suppose you're going to tell me next not everyone starts the day at 3:00 AM by yodelling and masturbating vigorously in a public park :/
Human health as a money-making industry is just wrong and barbaric in itself.
Reading this thread reminds me how much I love the NHS.
I can't go see the doctor to find out why my toes have been numb for 2 weeks. I can't afford that shit. I'm in the process of trying to apply for the Medicaid, but that will likely take a long time. Hopefully the issue goes away before then...
