Copyright claims are bullshit. - General

Okay, so I just spent [I]2 fucking hours[/I] uploading a 4 minute video, only to get this message. [B]This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by FOX. [/B] What the fucking shit? Come on, it was a music video tribute to fight club. I didn't take credit for it, if anything, I'm [B]helping[/B] FOX. In the description, I even put [I]I do not own the music or the footage in this video. Fight Club (c) 20th Century Fox Where is my mind? (c) The Pixies[/I]. Does anybody else hate this bullshit??

They do own the copyright to it, they can do what they want.

The people I've seen get their videos up had a settlement with youtube and the copyright issues i guess it's the only way to get videos up I'm not saying they trolled youtube or company's as your applying. A settlement between their lawyers i mean.

Step 1: Get a gun, large caliber, preferably fully automatic. Step 2: Go to Fox's corporate headquarters. Step 3: Storm the lobby, while screaming and firing wildly into the air. Step 4: ???? Step 5: PROFIT!!!

They didn't make threads complaining about it they did something about it.

Lucky for me, I haven't experienced this yet. You just need to look out for certain things. They own the copyright, they can do what they want with it. But I do agree that it's bullshit. If anything, you really are helping them by showing people the song and the movie.

Bottom line is, the company owns the rights to the film, and they say pretty clearly you cannot edit or manipulate it for your own work regardless of if you say that it's copyrighted to them.

I never said it's fair or right, I said that that's how it is.

So lets see, they spend money on a guy to argue that it's unfair that even though the rules say he can't do this, they took it down. Yep, sounds like bitching to me.

I got my account permanently disabled because of a few copyright claims. I'm sad because of that since I had quite a few videos on it that meant something to me (and I don't have them on my harddrive any longer) But, blergh, it isn't the end of the world. Like it matters anyway, it's just videos and subscribers. And if the subscribers really are deadserious about subscribing they can just search up on my new user account...

You clearly don't know how much a lawyer costs. Nobody would hire one over a nonprofit thing, because even if you SOMEHOW got money out of it, you wouldn't even break even with all the fees you'd have to pay.

It's also worth noting that there are videos like the one I made all over youtube, barely any of them have been taken down.

It really is bull. I used the Zephyr Song by Red Hot Chili Peppers to have my video taken of audio.. :/ But yeah, I can see why I guess.
