I think calling it the Tortanic is a bad analogy.
There was a huge, gaping hole on its starboard side before it even hit the Iceberg.
Don't get me wrong it's not good by any means, but this guy is making it seem a lot worse than it actually is. Most of the stuff he's talking about could be applied to any MMO. IMO he has no idea what he's talking about and what makes this bad game so bad
also keyboard turner
"That new batman movie has been making a killing at the box office."
heh...eheheheh
The game was a mistake that could have been remedied even before launch, but these guys don't know what MMO's are like. He even complained about someone else doing the STARTING QUEST.
There's nothing the developers could do to "fix" half the things they complained about.
TOR isn't even bad.
oh god the EA CEO is the emperor part
anyways i'm sick of the super mario brothers music now.
ahaha
average questline in TOR
"Some kid called me 4 eyes because I wear glasses! What should I do?"
"Play Doom II for 3 months non-stop and go shoot up your school"

I'd agree that it's not bad but it's not particularly good either. Mediocre is a good word for it. I had fun the first month because I was playing with friends but couldn't justify spending $15 a month
I never played the game but just from watching the video i can tell the guy has no idea what the fuck he's talking about and has probably never played an MMO in his life. just seems like he's trying way too hard

Actually that starting quest thing was valid, it's bad game design to have limited quest objects/enemies that don't respawn fast enough to have two people do it without waiting, look at how GW2 does it for example, area events that encourage team play without even having to group up, hell you even get loot if you help someone else kill something, without taking stuff away from them.
I laughed at the opening, and TOR is pretty bad, but after that they just started trying waaay too hard.
This asshole didn't even give it a chance; he went into this with the intention to bash it, and he doesn't even know anything about MMO's it looks like.
1/10 Biased piece of shit but liked the intro.
As someone who hates MMOs with a passion, I loved the story, characters, and overall Star Wars experience.
Finished all the classes stories, got my money's worth, and then got the hell out of there.

The video creator was from GYP and his uploads are covered in /v/ memes. SWTOR was doomed from the start to him.

This is what I thought. The story based stuff was actually pulled off pretty well, and it certainly felt like a Star Wars game. The MMO parts all fell short though.
I enjoyed a good amount of it, but the guy constantly eating chicken nuggets was absolutely atrocious.
I cannot stand hearing people eat in a video.

To be fair, the starting zone is a natural bottleneck, especially with an exact number of items that take a period of time to respawn. If you get 5 people starting a character at the same time (as you might see in WoW, especially back in vanilla) then you end up with certain players having to wait up to half an hour if they don't want to join a group, but want to do the starting quest. (take Hogger in Elwynn, or Grik'nir the cold in Dun Morogh as mob comparrisons, you could easily wait ten mins if someone beats you by a few seconds)
Having interactables with a cooldown in packed areas is a flaw in game design, unless you have a load of the interactables available, or instance the zone.
Suppose ToR manages to alleviate the issue by not having packed zones, though. My friend didn't bother renewing his account because it was as monotonous as WoW, whilst being nearly empty. :v:
I don't have tor on origin yet I still play the free trial, have it fucked the system or something?
That was probably the funniest 17 minutes of my life. It blows my mind how Bioware used such a shitty engine in this game. It single-handedly ruined it. Hell, using something that everyone KNOWS works, like Unreal engine, or even paying CCP to use the Carbon+Trinity engines would have made this game SO MUCH BETTER, because they wouldn't have to invest so much time into making such a broken piece of shit engine work.
I liked Star Wars Galaxies way better.
