• Legality behind this (music)?

I want to get an old song, it came out on a Tim Curry's (yes the actor) vinyl album "read my lips" which came out in 1978 and fell into obscurity. Fast forward to 2010, I want to get the song "Wake Nicodemus" and I cannot find it on iTunes, Amazon or Napster and the only way to get the track is by buying the record which would be kind of hard to jam into my ipod. I'm not sure if anyone still owns the right to the music and I do not think that there is an official vendor anymore (since the song hasn't been released in 32 years) but I still want to be sure. Anyway so searching for the file using the "index.of: (mp3|wma) Wake.Nicodemus" thing I found a website/files that had the music along with a bunch of other artists you cannot find anymore. It doesn't seem at all legit and I wanted your take on it. The site's info is: wallywashis.name http://wallywashis.name/oe/ I don't think there's anything wrong with it but when I google the site it is full of links to rapidshare looking for passwords and usernames but when I click make account it just asks me to pick a username and password. More info on the record below: Here is more info on the record: http://www.rockymusic.org/album/curry-read-my-lips.php If this is wares then tell me so I don't do it and if any of you know where I can get the file legally (if this is illegal) then I would love to hear from you. This is pretty much my first time getting a non-iTunes song so I don't want to get arrested on my maiden voyage! Thanks!
on paper yes this is illegal
Hmmm, anyone have any other ideas? I really want this song... So how am I supposed to get the song, it's only on vinyl
Yeah this is illegal. If you have any friends that are dj's, get the vinyl, and get them to record it to mp3.
Yeah this is illegal. If you have any friends that are dj's, get the vinyl, and get them to record it to mp3.
that's still illegal
convert it from youtube.
Yeah this is illegal. But then again, putting music on your Ipod is also illegal so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
yes, that's entirely true. simply ripping a CD onto your PC, even if entirely for your own personal use, even if through iTunes for your own iPod, is still illegal as written and described (though i don't think anyone has ever been sued or threatened with lawsuit because of it, it's just illegal by description). in fact, copyright laws are so hilariously unadjusted for technology that viewing most websites is also a copyright violation
Cut tiny circles out of the plate around the same size as a CD, put it in the tray of your PC and record the available data. Keep repeating this process untill there's only bits and pieces of the plate left that can't be cut in a cirlce. Now, stamp that into a very fine powder and jam it into your USB slot. Don't be afraid to push it really hard to make sure all the fragmented data re-appears on your computer. After that, just copy and paste everything in 1 folder and compress it with winrar. Ta-da! Now you've got 1 file of the entire song!
It's not illegal in the Atlantic Ocean :buddy:
alternatively, just hack into the dataframe
Just buy the vinyl. Sounds so much better.
dont illegaly download music fbi wil raid ur hosue well i didn't realize this was 3 weeks old. oopsies.
Send a message to whoever put that youtube video on youtube and ask if they'll send you the .mp3 of it
It's illegal but nobodies going to give two shits unless you run around the authorities saying you pirated it. Even then I doubt they'd give a shit. I'm afraid to even buy a cd anymore because it's supposedly illegal and unfair to the label to rip it to my iPod
no one gives a damn about music piracy in the country i live, these days. a friend of mine is a policeman but still downloads movies n stuff. i've got 13gb of music and not even 1b was downloaded in a legal way. to support the bands i like, i buy their merch.
I sent ya a PM. I have that song, e.mail me (User was permabanned for this post ("Warez" - Greeman))
I sent ya a PM. I have that song, e.mail me
yea, he is still looking for it 3 months later.
Record it, there is no other way. There are tonnes of albums only on vinyl, not illegal to record for personal use.
NVM 3 months late.
yea, he is still looking for it 3 months later.
Why wouldn't it? took me around 8 months to get a song I heard 10 seconds on the radio.
What the fuck just noticed the bump!
Yea and I sent the owner like 4 emails and the fag wont ever respond, and i ended up signing up to a hundred things of crap spam. Luckly i used a fake email. Im trying to get the Mutate & Spin Album. This is the only place its available amazon dont even have it anymore.
wallywashisname is a bs website that just makes you signup and do surveys and never puts out.
-snip didn't see dates-
Who the fuck cares. Those companies are more rich than they deserve. The artist only really makes money by going on tour and doing shows, as the record companies tend to suck them dry, so they can pump out the next Britney Spears.
Aside from legality, it is listed on WOT under the category: Phishing or other scams.
I LISTEND to THE SONG, MY EARS THEY BLEED. also ipods are shit.
