It’s been 25 years since Jason Voorhees took on Nintendo game players in the officially licensed Friday the 13th video game.
Now, EGM has learned that a new Friday the 13th game is currently in development, and will reportedly be an asymmetrical, co-operative and competitive multiplayer predator/prey horror experience that pits a small group of resourceful survivors against a single player in control of the immortal, relentless slasher icon.
Yes, someone gets to actually be the infamous Jason Voorhees!
The new game, tentatively titled Friday the 13th, is in development for multiple platforms for an October 2015 release. The game’s lore will not only reference elements from the classic film franchise, but also incorporate content and themes from the upcoming “Friday the 13th” television series.
It'll probably be bad.
It's probably gonna suck but the concept is cool.
So its like that "Last Summer" Kickstarter game or whatever?
Cool.
Better fucking have each of his different looks as unlockable costumes.
[sp]Just so i can be Uber-Jason[/sp]

Last Summer is probably going to be way better.
This also makes me sad that the Nightmare franchise is pretty much dead.
Scratch that, it is going to be better.
muh automerge
Last Summer is probably going to be way better.
Yeah probably.
But i hope this is good too.
No seriously, i want my Uber-Jason.
I'd probably play it only so I can see in what kind of creative ways I can kill my friends.

Where's my Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash game?
Where's my Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash game?
I would pay the big bucks for that shit.

Like the sleeping bag kill from Part VII.

So,
Cunningham hints that an experienced game studio has taken the reins of the title’s development and will be announced in the coming weeks.
Destructive Creations
Save your company some money and just make it on unity. It will still have the same amount of profits.
I want it to be good. It has the potential to be great, despite carrying the name of a massive IP. Look at the sleeper hit that was the most recent Aliens game. That being said, I'm prepared for something subpar.
The promo looks a bit bad¨
but still a cool concept for a game. Reminds me a bit about Depth

Holy shit.
What if they got Creative Assembly for the game?
asymmetrical multiplayer? Count me in.
When has a game with a title "The Video Game" ever been good?

Ghostbusters: The Video Game
I think it'll be a nice substitute, if nothing else, until Last Year releases. For those who don't know, they sound almost identical except Last Year is a bit more broad spectrum. Either way, this seems like an interesting little subgenre coming to life. Proper coop survival horror. No arcadey L4D.

Alien... wasn't really a sleeper hit.
I think you've got your terminology mixed up. A sleeper hit is something that becomes a surprising commercial success despite having little promotion or poor initial sales.

Peter Jacksons King Kong: The Official game of the movie.
Maybe not word for word, but that game was rad as shit.

Telltale Games?
The picture in OP's post reminds me a lot of their recent graphical choices.

Not with the type of game they're describing. Although, that gave me the idea for a TTG series starring 1 episode each of classic slasher villains. Michael, Freddy, Jason, etc.
Last Summer is probably going to be way better.
Still SUPER skeptical about that because the only game asset they showed off was a 1st person animation for an axe.

Or Ash Williams versus all of them.

Keep in mind it's coming out Late 2016.
