Footage of canceled Darth Maul game appears online
Red Fly Studio was working on a Star Wars title featuring Darth Maul for around eight months before LucasArts canceled the project, according to a new report. For those that don’t know, Darth Maul was the main Sith antagonist in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, and later resurfaced in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
According to Red Fly CEO Dan Borth and anonymous sources, LucasArts gave the studio a chance to develop its own Star Wars title after it proved itself with the Wii version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2, Game Informer reports. However, LucasArts failed to inform the developer that there were plans to bring Maul into The Clone Wars series, simply telling the developer that he survived in Episode One.
The game was originally being developed as a Wii U exclusive before LucasArts decided to shift the game to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC also.
Red Fly began creating prototypes for the title, codenamed Damage, in October 2010, but during a subsequent meeting Star Wars creator George Lucas said he had a new vision for the title. According to Game Informer, Lucas wanted the game to be changed to a ”buddy cop-like experience,” with Maul teaming up with extended universe character Darth Talon.
Meh. The main thing that caught my eye was the force push.
But then I thought about it a bit more, and realised the Force Unleashed force push looks far more satisfying and more like a wave of energy instead of a knock.

Well iirc it never looked like a wave in the movies so I suppose thats what they were going for.
only good part of the prequals
there seems to be a rather disappointing number of cancelled games about star wars
According to the internet THIS IS WHY THE GAME WAS CANCELED:
"eventually the project fell foul of Star Wars head honcho George Lucas, who stepped in midway through development to request the game be changed to a "buddy cop-like experience" starring Maul and expanded universe character Darth Talon."•
Lucas is like, the center of everything when it comes to "why star wars is bad"
star wars has potential but it's been shit on too many times to count. Every time something really cool happens to star wars Lucas walks up and goes "No it has to be this way" but it's a super bad idea, and the entire thing is ruined because of him.
Aww, I like Maul :(. First his Clone Wars arc is left on a cliffhanger never to be finished, now this.
I don't know much of EU so question: Is Darth Talon before or after the movies? If Talon is after the movies then that means Maul lives through the Clone Wars and the Empire right? I can't tell if he has his robot legs yet so I still don't know.

Star Wars seems to disappoint a lot of people
it's like having sex... that is super hyped up and awesome and just when going really good, it stops like, right before the orgasm, but you can't even fap so it's just a feeling of anguish and disapointment

Probably because Galen was one of the most powerful force users ever, whole point was that it was overpowered.
Of course something awesome star wars related could have happened but george lucas in all his infinite wisdom wanted something changed for a retarded reason that cause the game to be canceled

Galen and the Force Unleashed felt like reading a bad fanfiction. The second one was even worse because it literally broke canon.

"Darth Talon"? That's the name of this Twilek Sith chick from the comics:

Granted, she's another fan-favorite (as the fanart you get when Google Imaging her shows) and I could see why she'd be forced in, but last I checked George's bad ideas catered more to children who take Ewoks and Jar Jar without second thought than the young adults that fawn over characters like this.
Also, Talon here's supposed to be in stories set over a hundred years after Episode 1. I know people like to twist around Star Wars's EU for the hell of it, but that's a hell of a time warp.
Star Wars games need to stop making enemies react from the hits of a lightsaber like it's just a glowing stick and actually make it effective like in Jedi Outcast
If they were going to add a co-op character they should have brought back Savage or something

But if you enable the mode where lightsabers literally cut everything, the game becomes too easy.
I do agree about that for The Force Unleashed though. Your lightsaber was the most useless weapon in the game.
Maul without the robes is a bad looking mother fucker.
egh the dancing around is so lame
the only way to have a proper lightsaber experience is to either send LOTS of enemies at you where each one is taken down in one hit, or to basically constantly be battling enemy sith/jedi
It looks nice but goddamn I wish I had a SW game where you can cut stuff with the lightsaber, instead of it going through enemies like it's not even there and doing no visible damage

At least disney now has SW, maybe something good will come of it now that lucas can't touch it
While it looked like a cool concept i'd think it would fall flat when you imagine doing that for 8 hours.
However! a game based on Maul that takes place before Episode 1 and his rise would be a sick thing.
The dark gritty underworld and shit.
I had this playing in the background when I first watched the video

Darth Maul confirmed for best girl
Be pretty cool if they made a dead space like star wars game with the plot of deathtroopers, or with a story inspired by it
Imagine running down a long corridor in a star destroyer with an E-11 that has less than 30 shots left with a huge wave of zombie stormtroopers and officers chasing your ass till either you die or you find a way to hide/escape
But i'd really want a star wars game that plays almost exactly like F.E.A.R., where you can go into reflex mode ( or slo-mo) and blast squads of stormtroopers and kick them through glass or other objects
maul became weird as fuck/interesting after ep1 tho
Yeah but The Clone Wars already covers that, better to stay away from that with games otherwise the story fragments even more. This is my idea of-course :)
That's disappointing.

At that point I wouldn't even care if it wasn't a challenge, slicing and force blasting through HORDES of enemies would be so badass
this literally took me an hour to do because the mouse controls for that bit were so fucking broken
me and my friends literally had to take turns in that level because unless you got it just right, it took like 30 minutes of obsessively "pulling" your mouse until you brought the damn thing down
Star Wars is so sad when it comes to gaming. There are some good Star Wars games, but the fact is that there aren't enough games. You would think with the mega popularity of Star Wars, we'd be getting more games, but that isn't really the case.
Where's our Storm Trooper third person shooter? Our Boba Fett action/adventure game with mild RPG elements? Where's our huge open world Elder Scrolls/Fallout 3 clone where you can fly spacecraft, visit Jabba the Hutt's place, and shoot Greedo first?

I'd happily trade all that for more republic commando.
I like to think in an alternate universe Kotor 3 was released and people hail the games as the true prequel trilogy. They also laugh and joke about the idea of EA acquiring the rights and making an MMO.

Tell me how to build a machine so I can slide over and bag a copy.

The real george lucas ( the non fuck everything up version) was assassinated by another george lucas from another universe who does too much drugs, and after assassinating the cool lucas he proceeded to steal all the universe/time traveling machines so nobody can save star wars
That also includes blueprints and knowledge on how to built the machines

They're releasing a comic to finish his story.

It looks like it might be running off the Force Unleashed tech
