While fielding a question about Trump’s anti-Muslim rhetoric, the man who plays Deadshot gave a pretty refreshing answer. As opposed to many critics outright condemning Trump, Smith looked at the silver lining of the situation and why it’s healthy to “speak out about the insanity”:

As painful as it is to hear Donald Trump talk — and as embarrassing as it is as an American to hear him talk — I think it’s good. We get to hear it. We get to know who people are and now we get to cleanse it out of our country.”
Source: http://uproxx.com/news/will-smith-finds-silver-lining-in-trump-comments Video (dont know how to link, is it media tags?) That's almost as fucked up as the shit that Donald Trump gargles.
I don't think he meant it that way, but you really shouldn't use the word "cleanse" anymore.

I don't think he meant it in any bad way. It's clear he just meant to wash the bad out through socially isolating them away from groups that think positively
Very poor choice of words Will.
I don't think he meant it in any bad way. It's clear he just meant to wash the bad out through socially isolating them away from groups that thing positively
Sort of like how Trump might have meant either that 2nd amendment voters could vote Hillary off or it was a call to outright assassinate her. It isn't clear, just a shit choice of words.
So Will Smith wants to isolate certain groups of people based on their beliefs because he thinks people that want to isolate groups of people based on their beliefs are bad. Okay.
I love when celebrities give talks about bettering society while sitting in places that run on slavery.
So Will Smith wants to isolate certain groups of people based on their beliefs because he thinks people that want to isolate groups of people based on their beliefs are bad. Okay.
Comparing racists and homophobes to people who want to do away with racism and homophobia. Okay.
I love when celebrities give talks about bettering society while sitting in places that run on slavery.
presumably it was a press conference to talk about and promote Suicide Squad, based on the banner behind him he's not exactly living there and whipping people
So Will Smith wants to isolate certain groups of people based on their beliefs because he thinks people that want to isolate groups of people based on their beliefs are bad. Okay.
Yes we absolutely should socially isolate racists and homophobes I have no care for anyone who believes in treating other human beings as second class citizens and anyone who thinks they deserve to be taken seriously and not laughed in the face at can go away [editline]11th August 2016[/editline] and please, no one turn this into big idiotic a segregation thing, its not the fucking same thing
presumably it was a press conference to talk about and promote Suicide Squad, based on the banner behind him he's not exactly living there and whipping people
It's more that he's saying this in a place that is 10 times worse than anything Trump could create in 4-8 years. It's that he's talking from this (for lack of better word) Bourgeois position where if he wasn't a millionaire celebrity his passport would probably have disappeared along with himself.
Sort of like how Trump might have meant either that 2nd amendment voters could vote Hillary off or it was a call to outright assassinate her. It isn't clear, just a shit choice of words.
Explaining elementary school levels of English to Trump supporters is getting boring, so I'm just going to quote the last post I made.
The way he worded it assumed that she was president and that the only people who could stop her from appointing judges are "second amendment people. Considering the second amendment deals specifically with arms, the undertones are clear. In this case everyone but you heard exactly what Trump meant
Smith's choice of words here (particularly inserting people and then following it up with cleanse) is unfortunate but it's ambiguous enough to suggest that Smith meant insane rhetoric being cleansed, not Trump or his supporters.
i think it is just a good idea to avoid the word cleanse when discussing anything political
Why are you people even whining so much about choices of word anyway The form is a bit wonky but the substance is clear enough. Only idiots focus on the former and ignore the latter.
Why are you people even whining so much about choices of word anyway The form is a bit wonky but the substance is clear enough. Only idiots focus on the former and ignore the latter.
Focusing on how he said it instead of the meaning is the only way anyone can make this look bad "America should be less hateful" OMG HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT WILL!!!! Like get fuckin real people
Why are you people even whining so much about choices of word anyway The form is a bit wonky but the substance is clear enough. Only idiots focus on the former and ignore the latter.
Overbearing persecution complex combined with a desperate need to defend Trumps recent gaffes as simple misinterpretations. The idea that Will Smith was calling for Trump supporters to be rounded up and cleansed from society is so ludicrous it doesn't even warrant an argument.
Overbearing persecution complex combined with a desperate need to defend Trumps recent gaffes as simple misinterpretations.
Or maybe it's just a very stupidly worded statement?
Unless you're insane, it would literally only take a few extra seconds to realize exactly what he meant. Now that we know this degree of bigotry exists in considerable quantity, we can take educational steps to move forward as a country. This is "war on christianity" levels of crazy [editline]11th August 2016[/editline] He could have worded it better but there was no malicious intent
Or maybe it's just a very stupidly worded statement?
Poorly worded yes. For the whopper of all whoppers though we can look at this clip. Under the logic being used to condemn Trump (Which I somewhat agree with) we should be calling for a immediate resignation. However some progressives, especially influential ones, will give their own side a pass. It's why quotes like the following were forgotten by anti-racism activists because calling a black person out for racism is a sure-fire way to be "cleansed" from their social circles.
"All Jews and gentiles are devils… Blacks are no devils… Everything black people doing wrong comes from [the white people]: Drinking, smoking, prostitution, homosexuality, stealing, gambling: It all comes from [the white people]"
It's a great statement, cleansing out the insanity makes sense.
Anyone else think Will Smith looks a lot like the Fresh Prince? The resemblance is uncanny
Poorly worded yes.
Okay that is actually fucked up. When was this? I tried finding a news article about it but couldn't see any reports. She should definitely walk that last part back though.
Clearly America is organizing a good old Idiot Cull and Trump is the main bait.
This is only gonna look worse to some because he just played an assassin that was previously white [editline]11th August 2016[/editline] But luckily he said cleanse it and not them or this would be a shitstorm
Im pretty sure you all know exactly what he mean't. There's no need to nitpick his wording about it. He's not a politician, he probably isn't being careful of every word that comes out of his mouth. His heart is in the right place and that says more than the one word some of you are complaining about.
Okay that is actually fucked up. When was this? I tried finding a news article about it but couldn't see any reports. She should definitely walk that last part back though.
It's her interview on Colbert from July, she even added a little chopping motion which makes it worse.

"All Jews and gentiles are devils… Blacks are no devils… Everything black people doing wrong comes from [the white people]: Drinking, smoking, prostitution, homosexuality, stealing, gambling: It all comes from [the white people]"

White people invented stealing, prostitution and homosexuality apparently none of these things existed until white people thought of them first, and then it was a thing in the world from then on
White people invented stealing, prostitution and homosexuality apparently none of these things existed until white people thought of them first, and then it was a thing in the world from then on
Every art piece of Adam and Eve I see theyre white and that bitch ate the apple that caused all the knowledge of evil
