"There's a hole in my backyard," Windermere, Fla., resident Lou Lambrose told the 911 operator just after 7 a.m. on Thursday when he first saw the hole, according to NBC station WESH.com. "How do you explain that?" Lambrose said his wife, Denise, was getting their children ready for school when she noticed something odd behind the house. "I ran downstairs with her and came outside with her and ... the grass was popping because it was falling into the ground," he said of the sinkhole, which is within three feet of the home, according to WESH.com. "So we immediately ran upstairs and got all of the kids out of the house." "The building department did come out and they did do their assessment and deem the building unsafe," Genevieve Latham of Orange County Fire and Rescue said, reported WESH. "It is upsetting; this is their home. This is where they live and it's unsettling for them." The Lambroses' pets were also evacuated safely, according to local media. Four trees have been swallowed so far by the giant backyard hole, WFTV.com reported. A fifth is on the edge. The Lambroses rent the home, and the homeowner has sinkhole insurance, WESH said. No other neighbors have been forced to evacuate, but the family next door isn't taking chances. "It's way too close to the house," Bryan Denis, who lives next door with his two sons, told BayNews9.com. "It's actually part of the yard now. I don't want my kids anywhere near it." Windermere, Fla., located about 15 miles outside of Orlando, has suffered from Central Florida's monthslong drought, contributing to the sinkhole. The water table below the ground's surface dried out, resulting in everything on top of it dropping as well, experts told BayNews9. A geologist surveyed the land Thursday afternoon to help decide what to do next, local reports said. By Friday, the hole had grown to 100 feet by 100 feet, larger than an NBA basketball court, said BayNews9. It's not known when the Lambroses will be able to move back into their home. Lambrose said one of his kids was in the backyard on Wednesday evening, hours before the ground opened up, so all he cares about is that they are safe. "My son was out there on the hammock," he said. "That's all I care about, is that my kids are OK and nobody got hurt. Completely scary. My brain has a hard time comprehending things like this. Only God knows how they happen, but I'm just thankful that we're all OK."

Fill it with water and make a super deep pool out of it. It'll be safe trust me.
What a generic american house
"My brain has a hard time comprehending things like this. Only God knows how they happen"
Of course your brain has a hard time comprehending this.
Of course your brain has a hard time comprehending this.
Don't even start.
What a generic american house
What were you expecting? Glass walls? An inverted roof?
Of course your brain has a hard time comprehending this.
This has nothing to do with the article, don't start shit for no reason.
"Sinkhole insurance"? I bet that guy is damn glad he got talked into that particular option.
Of course your brain has a hard time comprehending this.
How is this relevant to the article in any way?
simpsons movie
arrested development joke
Of course your brain has a hard time comprehending this.
Please, use your obviously superior wisdom and understanding to explain how it happened then.
Sinkholes are god damn scary.
Of course your brain has a hard time comprehending this.
That was so irrelevant it's not even funny. You know all those atheists that people complain about constantly shoving their atheism everywhere? That's you. You are all those atheists.
"Sinkhole insurance"? I bet that guy is damn glad he got talked into that particular option.
Even scarier how they have that option. Sinkholes must be common around there, fuck that place
Please, use your obviously superior wisdom and understanding to explain how it happened then.
Don't worry, I'm God, I can explain. [sp]I took AP Environmental Science and read the article.[/sp] The water table lowered due to drought and probably overuse by the city, allowing everything above it to cave in. This is becoming pretty common across the United States because much of our water comes from aquifers; for instance, the Ogallala is an aquifer that quite a few states use and it has dropped 10% since the 1950s. There are also issues with just simply rising water prices for both domestic use but also industrial and agricultural use. I live in Florida and we're worrying about that a bit as of late. Its theorized that at some point we'll have to start using a lot more desalination of ocean water to provide clean drinking water, but desalination is very energy intensive and thus has its own issues. As for everyone jumping on the one guy for bashing the family about God, I disagree. I don't care if people use God and religion for comfort, I've even told people things like "GAWD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS" and "GAWD WILL PROVIDE" and so on when they were upset, but there is a difference between comfort and the depletion of scientific reason. Some people allow religion to remove their scientific curiosity, which is not okay. At that point religion becomes a hindrance on the advancement of our society. You are correct that "Only God knows" wasn't the main topic of the article, but does that mean he can't post his opinion? Regardless of how small of a portion it was, it was in the article, and it is an affront to progress.
It mentions their pets. I wonder if their dog got a look at that hole before they left, I bet he was thinking "My God! I bet the mother of all dog bones is buried in there! Take me back, take me back!" Sadly all the family heard was "Ruff ruff. Woof woof woof".
Of course your brain has a hard time comprehending this.
why don't you just take it as an expression and refrain from being a pot-stirrer like the many.
What were you expecting? Glass walls? An inverted roof?
Yeah I don't get that comment either. They live in a house that looks like a house, why is that worth commenting on?
Throw some doughnuts into the sinkhole maybe enough fat people will jump in there to clog it up.

It's not as if he literally meant that only God knows how sinkholes occur.
Yeah I don't get that comment either. They live in a house that looks like a house, why is that worth commenting on?
Because it's just a generic house that looks like it comes from one of those housing projects. It's the stereotypical generic house, practically. Like the house you would generalize as being owned by some soccer mom with an SUV, and a guy who works in a cubicle the size of a half-bathroom. [editline]5th May 2012[/editline] I don't know what architectural style it is, since I'm not really big into architecture. However, I know what he means when he says "generic house".
What a generic american house
So, what were you expecting? Some sleek all glass house? Please, tell me what's the difference of a house to a house?
It's still a completely inane thing to point out. "Hey, that house looks like a lot of other houses!" Well duh.
It's a specific kind of house that looks really "generic" because it is so popular in many regions of the USA. Yea, it was probably inane to point it out, but it isn't like he's outright wrong.
So, what were you expecting? Some sleek all glass house? Please, tell me what's the difference of a house to a house?
Well there's a pretty big difference between and Different architectural styles look different. A house doesn't just look like any other house, it looks like other houses of the same architectural style.
Apart from the mexican looking one, they don't look like homes any guy with a small to medium salary could afford.
These are sort of highlights of different styles. You can scale these things down and make them affordable to lower income people most of the time I believe. Except the Victorian(first one), I believe those houses are built to be pricey. [editline]5th May 2012[/editline] If there are even built at all anymore. I have no clue, I'm no architect.
