A homosexual couple. Goddamn gays stealing our white women
Anti-gay marriage activists have argued vigorously that children need a mother and father. Now a new research study shows that kids do need two parents — but that gender doesn't matter.
The research, which also speaks to the issue of gay adoption, is summarized in the lead article of the new Journal of Marriage and Family. Scholars, at USC and New York University, looked at a range of existing studies, including research on gay and lesbian parents, finding that it's ideal if a child is raised by two parents who are "responsible, committed, stable," but that the gender doesn't cause radical differences.
Sociologist Timothy Biblarz of the USC College of Letters, Arts and Sciences says in a release about the study:
Significant policy decisions have been swayed by the misconception across party lines that children need both a mother and a father. Yet, there is almost no social science research to support this claim. One problem is that proponents of this view routinely ignore research on same-gender parents. The bottom line is that the science shows that children raised by two same-gender parents do as well on average as children raised by two different-gender parents. This is obviously inconsistent with the widespread claim that children must be raised by a mother and a father to do well.

Whichever is better for the kid is what should be made legal.
At least the kid will grow up sexually tolerant.

Are you saying single parents shouldn't be allowed to raise children?
Science bitchslaps society once again.
In before nature vs. nurture debate.
:v:
Pretty neat article.

Are you questioning my authoritah?
Ya, sure it's awkward for a kid to explain to his friends that both his parents are guys, but after they grow up it's nothing different.
I had a friend with gay parents. Sure he was suicidal and crazy, but he loved his dads.
Take that Jesus!!
As long as the kid is happy, and the parents aren't abusive, I don't care.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCk
What's so hard about figuring this one out?
If a kid is raised by nice, intelligent people, the kid will be in an environment that encourages him/her to be nice and intelligent.
People complicate things so much that they're more worried about whether the parents have balls or a twat
I only had one parent.
I don't really know if two gay parents would be better, but I guess I'd like those fashion shows girls I know put on all the time.
I hope theres more gay men!
More women for me!
This is a surprise why?
I'm going to go eat cake and play Mass Effect 2 some more

Your parents raised you well. Were they gay?
This is a surprise why?
Because the world is full of retarded-as-fuck Christians who bash homosexuals because they'd rather live in the fucking stone age than give people equal rights.
my friend paid 80 bucks for mass effect 2 now he cant afford gas or food
I'm going to feel so sad for her when she gets older and understands this more. :saddowns:
My good friend can stand behind this. His parents are great in his/my opinion, and of the same gender.
the only thing that would be wierd is if you were an adopted dude and you had two hot mommies
dear penthouse, aww yeah
Your parents raised you well. Were they gay?
I predicted there would be homosex in Mass Effect 2, because it was in Dragon Age Origins, but I was wrong. I'm not sure if this is because it's a higher-profile release, or because fantasy fans are more fond of homosex, as compared to science-fiction fans (at least according to Bioware).
Think a little further. He/she'll be teased and disdained for his whole childhood.

I'd rather be teased my I have two dads (this is a common joke btw), rather than be teased my father is a meth addict and my mother is a prostitute.

Why is having two loving parents who just happen to like sex in another way bad?
I'm thinking, since there are two dads, you can't really call both of them dad, is it first name terms, or Dad A and Dad B?

I've heard kids say "Daddy <first name>"
Or mommy, whichever the case may be.
The kid would just be like

All the time.

Well at least in the case of a biological dad/mom and a same-sex partner, they'd call one mom and the other by their first name.
If 2 parents agree they want to both be called by their first name instead of daddy or dad, that'd work. If I was raised like that it wouldn't be awkward at all.
