• Actually, Apple Should Buy Nintendo
The last year has seen a lot of chatter that Apple (AAPL) should a) use its cash hoard to buy synergistic growth, and b) that Tesla (TSLA) would be a suitable target. To first address the latter, Apple would be moderately insane to buy Tesla.

Instead, if Tim Cook is ever to make a truly major acquisition, then I believe a better candidate is Nintendo (OTCPK:NTDOY). The mid- to high-end smartphone market is now essentially a battle between Apple (with iOS) and Samsung (with Android). Any defensible differentiating factor is potentially highly lucrative to either. I believe the Nintendo game back catalog provides such a differentiator. Games have undoubtedly evolved to be one of the key use cases for smartphones, as one can easily infer from the App Store paid sales charts. However, as gaming fans are all too aware, Nintendo has steadfastly refused to port its iconic games to smartphone platforms. While Sega (OTCPK:SGAMY) long ago realized it could not sustain its hardware business, Nintendo has yet to come to this (likely inevitable) realization. However, that day is seemingly coming. For this hardware generation, their living room box, the Wii U, has been a substantial failure. Moreover, with Apple's own Apple TV box rumored to be adding game functionality, the lower end of the living room console market is only going to get more competitive. At the high end, the PlayStation and Xbox franchises appear largely unassailable by Nintendo, bar some game-changing innovation. On the handheld side they are doing better. The 3DS has sold moderately well and is largely sustaining the company at this point. However, I have significant doubts that pure-play handheld gaming devices can retain mass market status in the face of the increasing power and sophistication of smartphone gaming platforms. Long term, Nintendo appears to be fighting an impossible battle. They do not appear to entirely disagree with this, which makes their reticence in adopting the SEGA model all the more surprising. But they have one shining asset: the strongest set of iconic gaming franchises owned by one company. In my view, access to the Nintendo game catalog on iOS would strike a major blow to Samsung. Having Pokemon, Mario, Zelda, and their many friends exclusively tied to iOS would likely provide the most significant point of software differentiation between the two rivals.
Apple would be moderately insane to buy Tesla.
Apple would be insane to try buying either.
This article suggests that apple buy Tesla. Whoever wrote this has no clue about the businesses he suggest

I don't think Nintendo shareholders would even think about selling Nintendo to Apple.
Opinion article guys, this isn't news, just letting everyone know before someone panics
Nintendo i3DS 7! Now with something you probably will not use all that often for 3x the price! Better get selling that kidney!
At the high end, the PlayStation and Xbox franchises appear largely unassailable by Nintendo, bar some game-changing innovation.
Which would be a problem if Nintendo actually gave a shit about competing with PS and Xbox. They don't - they aren't targeting "the average gamer" (however you want to interpret that), they're targeting the people who just want to play Mario Kart.
I can see the logic of this idea. First, fewer and fewer people are going to have separate mobile devices as we move into the future. You already see it with people using their phone cameras rather than a cheap Canon point and shoot. Mobile gaming is in its infancy, it's about where the old Atari 2600 was in terms of console development- the beginning. If you judge mobile gaming by what's going on now you are making a big mistake. The relevance is that for a long time Nintendo's handheld sales have propped up their console efforts. They actually haven't needed good console sales in a long, long time. What happens when handheld starts losing gamers to mobile games? Nintendo will bleed money. It's only a matter of time till Nintendo will have golden franchises but with no viable system to play them on. Apple devices provide a huge, cash rich environment. One thing can't be denied, Apple users spend money, lots of money. They aren't shy about it, they are proud of it. Android is grabbing tons of mobile market share, so Apple has something to gain. It would be like Disney buying Star Wars and Marvel, who'd believe THAT could happen...oh wait.

Am I the only one who doesn't want my consoles announced in 60 minute keynotes?
Shigeru Miyamoto would commit seppuku before he would let this happen
Death before dishonor I guess.
Shigeru Miyamoto would commit seppuku before he would let this happen
It would be funny if he did and then it still happened
facepunch buys nintendo, reveals new console called wii facepunch u
Games consist of arguing about video games and suddenly turning into arguments about gay people and circumcisions.
Shit money does indeed make blind, it's like they truly have no idea what they're talking about.
3 years, and people still don't realize that just because apple has lots of money saved up it needs to spend it on buying companies ranging from yahoo to sony to now nintendo.
Mobile gaming and handheld gaming are two different things, but dumbasses like our friend the opinion piece here don't realize that. I don't see a future where handheld gaming gets consumed by mobile phones. Even if the processing power can get to that adequate of a level and can be affordable, who really wants to play a legit Pokemon or non-main series Mario game (like Mario Kart) on a fucking touchscreen? Maybe a tablet, maybe, but anything that could be considered a phone is kinda ridiculous.
I remember when someone said that Apple should buy Valve, luckily they where able to get him back in his padded cell before he could harm anyone.
