Sorry guys, could a moderator change the title?
Le Pen is not mentioned in any of those articles.
Uh. yeah. It just seems like he finds himself unelectable and wants someone else to take the reins?

Isn't she the leading right-wing candidate after him? Wouldn't it go without saying?
Or is there another candidate

European countries have more than two parties for the most part. They're just the centre-right conservative party. Pen is in Front National.
He endorsed a dude named Francois Fillon, so it's not like he's conceding to Le Pen.
Sarkozy(22.1%) quit because he came third behind Fillion(43.5%) and Juppe(27.6%)
He's not conceding to Le Pen, he's leading his supporters to vote for Fillion, the one he's voting for.
Sounds like it's going to be Francois Fillon that's going to be the centre-right candidate. Could one of our French user tells us what he means?
He just lost the Republicans primary. I don't know what you're smoking.
Imagine: "Breaking News: Sanders concedes defeat to Trump and quits race" after democrats primary. Insane.

I'm aware, I was just under the impression that Sarkozy's and Le Pen's parties were the two major right-wing ones that mattered, at least in this election; however I admit I'm not familiar with France's political atmosphere or ballot system.

All you need to know about french politics is that Robespierre did nothing wrong.

Please don't tell me people actually believe that.

I actually really don't see him as particularly terrible, especially compared to the disgusting state of affairs beforehand that prompted the revolution of millions dying by being sent off to fight the king's wars, starving while the aristocracy ate very well, and so many innocents being thrown in prison. And with LA REPUBLIQUE in a precarious position with so many enemies who wanted the monarchy and the estates system restored... yeah they were in a pretty nasty position.
He did lots of good things too, like fighting slavery. If we're going to be serious, saying he did nothing wrong is silly. But I find that the way he was talked about in history classes was also a bit unfair, especially when other stuff other people do just gets overlooked.
Didn't realise he fought slavery.
I agree that obviously the monarchy had to be removed, but Robespierre was not the type of leader you want after a revolution, and he had a huge part to play in the rise of Napoleon.
... who also did do some good things, but then there's what he did in Spain and various other things.
I must admit I do automatically hate dictators, so that's where my disgust with Robespierre is coming from. I probably should have been a little bit more nuanced.

robespierre did plenty wrong but he wasn't as bad as he's often portrayed to be
the one who actually did nothing wrong was based nappy
