Alright so this is newsworthy because it's going to set a precedent. Will Steam allow a title rated "adults only" on their service? If so, can we expect Leisure Suit Larry and Manhunt 2 uncut on Steam in the future?

I really don't understand why this game is getting rated so harshly. Sure, they're innocent people but I haven't seen anything that resembles the brutality of Manhunt (which was rated mature)

i really really really want them to release it as AO just so i can say i've bought one of those games once in my life. manhunt was supposed to be AO but got downgraded to M after they reworked it

You can always buy RapeLay

What online retailers even allow AO games? Steam won't allow it and I can't think of any other service that would.

Direct2Drive sells the AO versions of Manhunt 2 and Leisure Suit Larry.
Jesus Christmas. I thought an M rating was already for adults only. What's the point of an M and an AO rating? Fuck the ESRB.

Nah they thought it out very carefully. M is for ages 17 and up. AO is for ages 18 and up!

Those were removed it seems after they were bought out by gamefly.
The client sucks ass last time I tried it to retrieve my Blackshark and Mass Effect keys from old D2D
fun fact: manhunt 2 was impossible to get legally on pc for a few years after its release until gamersgate stocked it, also i didnt know d2d came back from the grave
Oh shit, D2D went out of business? I had to remember the name but I didn't think it ever died.

AO is generally reserved for porn games. At least to my understanding.
Nah they thought it out very carefully. M is for ages 17 and up. AO is for ages 18 and up!
yea but retail stores will only M games,.
That's weird since it only has violence and swearing from the trailer, nothing sexual at all. The devs vowed not too add dogs or children either.
it's because the rating is a joke and everyone is pissed about thE game is why it got the rating not because of logic.
Take a page out of the Team America book and keep resubmitting it with slight alterations until they become desensitized to it and give it an M rating
How did manhunt 2 deal with this.
Maybe they can create a "censored" version and then give you an option to patch in the original content

I think that the AO ratings were reserved for interactive violence like torture mechanics from The Punisher and Manhunt 2. Both games had filters whenever those scenes played out in order to get an M-rating. Hatred just seems to play a close-up cutscene of an execution.
I really dont think this deserves an Ao rating and I hope that doesnt prevent it from getting on Steam

I mean, at this point I don't think it's not going to. Started in Greenlight, Valve pulled it, people put up a stink about it, Valve put it back on, it was immediately upvoted to the top Greenlight game and accepted. What is Valve going to do? Say they're not going to put it out and have people make another huge stink? Possibly one bigger than before? It's no AO for "standard" AO reasons, just really violent.

you know with all this negative publicity the devs could easily just twist this ultra violent shooter game into the biggest comedy joke game in history. they're going to lose out on the opportunity of a lifetime by not doing it.
maybe every time you kill a guy a big score multiplier written in bloody, red death metal font will cover their corpse to censor all the violence
then naut himportant will yell out a big one liner like "die in hell...." or "fuck!" when you shoot them. maybe there will be a bonus stage where all the enemies are grandmas or puppies or something.
[editline]15th January 2015[/editline]
woah dude what if there was a feature to go to your own house in game and kill yourself as you're playing the game, then the trenchcoat guy will shoot your computer and blow it up
Why does no retailer stock AO games again?
A bit weird since most people with spending money would be you know...adults
edit:Oh yeah I forgot that most AO games are porn games
i hope steam allows it
free speech is gud
Watch it not get banned in Australia because there's no drug use or something just as ridiculous.
technically it shouldn't be banned in Australia because R18+ violence explicitly mentions "violence has no limits for this rating to be applied" so if it gets banned, then it's invalid
They say they're the second game in history to be rated AO while having no sexual content. What was the other one?
Most Steam users were born on January 1, 1955. I don't see an issue.

Plus, it will set precedent for Steam selling AO games.

ahh. gamestop won't stock it, but i totally remember seeing leisure suit larry at blockbuster and being infinitely intrigued about it at the prime age of 9.

When will we get the porn equivalent of Steam
manhunt 2
i thought there was a puzzle in manhunt 2 that involved chopping off a guys scrotum or dick or something? Maybe im remembering it wrong
funny though, when the game was announced almost everyone was butthurt and just kept on pressing the edgy button and now it seems like people want to support it after it got removed off steam and now it has the infamous AO rating.
I'm going to assume that sexual content means sexual intercouse, because Manhunt 2 did have some sexual content, just not people having straight up sex.

This is fucking hilarious, "OK, you're free to depict the killing of innocent people, but please, keep puppies out of this!". I feel like the only reason they put that restriction is so that batshit-insane organisations like PETA don't throw a fit.
