MT. MORRIS TWP. -- Mt. Morris Township Fire Chief Rick Johnson said a pilot flying in the area near Dalton Airport Wednesday, July 17 alerted officials to a downed aircraft around Pierson and Luce roads where two people on board died in a plane crash.
The first report of a plane down came around 3:45 p.m., Johnson said during an impromptu press conference behind a mini storage facility off Pierson Road where fire officials rolled back a section of fence to let emergency personnel into the scene of the crash.
Johnson said the plane took off around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday from Dalton Airport off Pierson Road. The Federal Aviation Administration has said a family member contacted authorities when the plane did not arrive at its intended destination -- Owosso Community Airport.

Horrible, I didn't see this on any major news websites. Maybe the crash was related to this heatwave, I know flying in hot weather is somewhat more difficult.
I fly planes for a living and I always hate to hear things like this happening. 9 time outa 10 with these small plane crashes it was pilot error... Also about the heat. Planes get really fucking hot, its like a hell hole because alot of smaller planes dont have AC all they have is the small window on the pilot side. (Some have holes on the bottom of the plane to scoop in air too) Sucks, hopefully the NTSB comes up with a reason why this happened.
Do the feds always come out for small plane crashes?
Is it just me or are there more plane stories in the news than usual? Is it always like this, just more publicized in the wake of the Asiana incident, or is it just a bunch of freaky coincidences?

It's aliens man.
JK of course, I think it's just a really weird coincidence.
Must be a quiet area. A plane crashed in the morning and no one noticed anything for about seven hours. Not even a puff of smoke?

Small planes don't usually explode when they crash, I doubt most even catch fire.
