Due to land in stores around the globe on June 17th, Duke Nukem Forever is possibly the most, and certainly the longest anticipated game of all time. Numerous delays and outright cancellations have plagued the project since the get-go but now 2k Games and Take-Two Interactive have finally gotten the game Gold and ready to ship. Unfortunately though, it seems people can’t wait. According to good old Wikipedia, Duke Nukem Forever’s development actually began way back in 1997 when this writer was just a wee lad.
Intended to be groundbreaking, Duke Nukem Forever has become infamous in the video games industry and become synonymous with vaporware due to its severely-protracted development schedule; the game has been in development since 1997.
Various fake copies of DNF have been floating around on various torrent sits for a few days now but this latest release by torrent group ‘Complex’ appears to be the real deal according to TorrentFreak. There are potentially bigger problems than a few lost sales for the DNF team though. With reviewers under embargo, little is known about how well the game has actually turned out but reports from people who have had some hands-on time with its demo release point to the wait not necessarily having been worth it. If that’s true and word gets out via people downloading this illegal copy then sales could be hit even more than anticipated.
This leak is early enough to warn people off if the game’s a dud, but for all the Duke fans out there, hopefully the reverse is true.
The rest of us will just have to wait another week to find out if good things do in fact come to those who wait…
http://www.redmondpie.com/duke-nukem-forever-leaks-onto-torrent-sites-a-week-before-release/
forever leaked.
I've waited a decade, I can wait another 10 days.
at least we know it actually exists now
but reports from people who have had some hands-on time with its demo release point to the wait not necessarily having been worth it
It's been in development since 1997. As I've said before, as long as Gearbox does not package a nude Halle Berry who wants to have sex with me, this game will not have been worth the hype.
10 years of development and it leaks just like that. I feel bad for them.
Duke nukem is ment to be a generic 1 dimensional shooter thats the point of duke nukem. it's a satire.
I heard it was going to be a bad game anyway.
Funny enough, I was listening to this while I read this article:
looks like the leak is XBOX only, damn it
Duke nukem is ment to be a generic 1 dimensional shooter thats the point of duke nukem. it's a satire.
Exactly, I just want to blow shit up. Lot's. Of. Shit.
has happened with every popular xbox 360 game ever put out.
I wouldn't be surprised if this game got horrid reviews. it was really doomed to fail around the 10th time that it got picked up again. none of the humour or mechanics are really relevant today and the appeal will be lost on most people who consume FPS games (i.e. kids in their early teens). the only real selling point is breasts, which would be excellent if it was still the early '90s
As I've said before, as long as Gearbox does not package a nude Halle Berry who wants to have sex with me
why the hell not, gearbox is just being lazy i bet it's a pre-order bonus [editline]7th June 2011[/editline]
the only real selling point is breasts, which would be excellent if it was still the early '90s
yeah they aren't even real breasts though it's like getting sexually arroused by triangles
yeah they aren't even real breasts though it's like getting sexually arroused by triangles
Well in that case it's just like a day in my life
forever leaked.
I don't like it when they leak games, it just ruins the company.

That was terrible.

The only people who can appreciate this game are the ones who played Duke Nukem before and have been waiting for the game for the last 14 years or something.

You are doing it wrong. And in the wrong place.
Who cares about what journalists think? The only people who can appreciate this game are the ones who played Duke Nukem before and have been waiting for the game for the last 14 years or something.
just because it takes a long time for a sequel to be published doesn't mean the game is exempt from any form of judgement if its a shitty game, its a shitty game the time frame of development has no bearing on the matter
A part of me does not want me to feel bad for the developers like I felt bad for Axl Rose when everyone forgot about Chinese Democracy after giving it bad reviews. Then again I should not feel sorry for him, Axl Rose is an asshole.
I don't see how anyone was excited about this game. It's looks below average by today's standards and the gameplay is like every generic piece of shit FPS that comes out these days
Who cares about what journalists think? The only people who can appreciate this game are the ones who played Duke Nukem before and have been waiting for the game for the last 14 years or something.
the only people who appreciate this game are teenaged boys who want to see polygonal tits bouncing around, sorry. I'm a big fan of the classic Duke Nukem games and even I have no interest in this game, as it's nothing more than a game designed to cater to horny teenagers
I hope it's not a flop, simply because this is a huge risk for gearbox, if it fails they lose surely a vast investment and in reputation. I don't want gearbox to die, they've done too many wonderful games to go under.

I'm gonna wait for a review or demo before buying so I don't get Brinked (I dodged a bullet on that one thankfully). The comments of the previews I've seen were less than promising.

The comments of the previews I've seen were less than promising.
You can't say "Brinked" because there are a lot of people who enjoy it, including myself. Sure, it was different from what people expected, but it was by no means a bad game. Not in the slightest. If this game is the same way, you can't say you were "DNFed" because, again, people are enjoying it.
