With Omega, AMD shifted their development process for the Catalyst driver set, focusing on delivering feature updates in fewer, larger updates while interim driver releases would focus on bug fixes, performance improvements, and adding new cards. The Omega release in turn was the first of these major releases, delivering a number of new features for Catalyst such as Virtual Super Resolution, preliminary support for FreeSync, and of course a number of performance improvements. When briefing the press on Omega, one of AMD’s points was that if it was successful they were intending to make it a yearly release – in essence putting major feature updates on a yearly cadence – and after the reaction to Omega AMD has gone ahead and done just that. So launching today and serving as the cornerstone of AMD’s video driver plans for 2016 is this year’s major update, Radeon Software Crimson Edition.
Welp. I should update then.
Which cards fall under the retired list?
Which cards fall under the retired list?
anything less than ~Radeon HD 7600 and older APUs I think.
The people I've talked to said it's a pretty good improvement just on the UI side. Now nvidia needs to do their turn and update their ancient driver UI. And make it not take like a minute to respond.
So, as someone with a R9280X, should I be downloading these drivers or what?
anything less than ~Radeon HD 7600 and older APUs I think.
RIP HD 5670
RIP HD 5670
Is that the gpu you are having? It was bad when it was new.

Driver still not available for Windows 8. ( But it is for 8.1)
Why would you not upgrade to 8.1
Why would you not upgrade to 8.1
Or even 10 ? You know ... DX 12 ...
Driver still not available for Windows 8. ( But it is for 8.1)
AMD stopped making drivers for 8 after a year of it's release.
I just got a prompt when I turned my PC on today to update catalyst drivers. I'm updating to see if there is anything worthwhile to it. Aaaaaand the control panel doesn't work. The fuck AMD.
Can't upgrade to 8.1 because I have an OEM key.
Can't upgrade to 8.1 because I have an OEM key.
You should still be able to upgrade.
I tried it several times but it won't.
Everyone on 8 got 8.1 lol wtf
I tried it several times but it won't.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/why-can-t-find-update-store Maybe that will help, it's not because you have an OEM key. Every Windows 8 install can upgrade to 8.1 for free. Once you get 8.1 on there you should go to 10.
I tried it several times but it won't.
The 8.1 is downloaded via the Store app, not windows update - maybe you already knew that, but whatever, it's not really obvious.
The 8.1 is downloaded via the Store app, not windows update - maybe you already knew that, but whatever, it's not really obvious.
Yup, but it tells me I can't :/
I feel like the OpenGL perfomance might be improved Only because KSP dosen't run like ass in Open GL mode suddenly, though it could be on there end.
Or even 10 ? You know ... DX 12 ...
Which won't be used for a long time but Windows 10 is quite a bit faster than Windows 7 and 8.
I feel like the OpenGL perfomance might be improved Only because KSP dosen't run like ass in Open GL mode suddenly, though it could be on there end.
That would be neat, as OpenGL support for AMD has been basically non existent. Can't even use AA in OpenGL games, or force it without issues
Which won't be used for a long time but Windows 10 is quite a bit faster than Windows 7 and 8.
The new Deus Ex is using it.
