Yesterday, we reported on website StopElonFromFailingAgain.com, which focuses on attacking Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk and is backed by conservative group Citizens for the Republic. But there's more to the story about that group and the people behind it.
In its position against clean energy tax credits, Citizens for the Republic (CFTR) presents itself as advocate representing the interests of average taxpayers, rather than energy or utility companies. However, CFTR's board members' history suggests that allegiance may not be so clear-cut.

These seem like regular meme videos until the point where the website shows and it just awkwardly pauses for like 10 seconds.
ya it takes their money away of course theyre going to lobby against it, old fucking scumbags
yeah right
Curiously this group started attacking Musk immediately after the SolarCity merger was announced and stepped it up after the merger was approved. Couldn't possibly be related to the energy lobbyists on their board.. no sir.
so its in the publics best interest to have one singular launch provider (ULA) whose rockets are notoriously overpriced and had essentially stopped all R&D efforts since they had the entire US and most of the comercial market locked up. Then its also in our best interest to not allow Space-X to fairly bid on launch contracts with their own systems and recieve said contracts. Additionally we should shut down the one company that almost singlehandidly restarted american rocket research and development?
ya we do live in the post-fact era where logic does not apply
hopefully free market economics prevails as im sure no conservative ever would interfere with a perfectly viable business model to benefit another more moneyed interest...
I'm still convinced that part of the reason that US politicians cater so heavily to the oil industry is due to our economy's reliance on the petro-dollar, and how fragile that would become if we rapidly moved away from oil, along with needing to rapidly increase our power generation to account for the charging of hundreds of thousands or millions of EV car's battery banks.

Surely the American people won't fall for this again, right?

Ahaha yeah as sure as the sky is green they won't.
So I guess just wait a few decades until the air is literally green from all the poison pumped into the atmosphere by the factories and we'll see.

Lobbyists are the most crooked pieces of shit in the world.
They can't stop the future
Lol, they're way too late.
Tesla is the future. All other car manufacturers will either follow in Elon's footsteps or fail quickly.

this is supposed to be anti-Musk? imo that sounds awesome, if a bit ridiculous (but to be fair he is on a comedy show...)

Basically dropping the bombs would release a lot of heat which would melt the carbon dioxide ice caps at the poles, and the CO2 released would thicken the atmosphere. He also suggested the way to do this slowly would be to export greenhouse gasses to Mars in order to accomplish basically the same thing

It would actually be a reasonable first step towards terraforming the planet. If enough energy can be released fast enough, it should start a chain reaction that essentially vaporizes the caps on the poles, and insulates the planet with a thick blanet of Co2. From there, just add plants and wait a hell of a long time and bam, you've got yourself a kind of inhabitable planet.

wouldn't the radiation be harmful though?
wouldn't the radiation be harmful though?
There's a plan for that, though it's absolutely insane

Once you get asteroid mining, nothing is insane anymore.

no they just get a shitload of campaign money and usually have tons of petrolium related jobs in their districts but its mostly campaign dollars...

who cares about radioactive fallout on a planet that we're not going to be living on the surface anyway? also if you detonate it above the caps you avoid most of the fallout since you're not irradiating material just using the radiation to melt the ice.
this is the most moronic thing ever

This is my only concern. Sure, we can sit here on Facepunch and call the lobbyists retards, but the impact is on the general public. A good portion of this public doesn't believe in climate change already, so it's not much of a further step to imagine they'd stop caring for clean energy without incentives like the ones the lobbyists oppose.
I say put these idiots on tv and watch them try justify what they're doing. They'll look stupid and lose all credibility, at that point no one will listen to them. All Elon needs to do is make what hes trying to do sound clear and concise, it'll look like those lobbyists are making shit up, people believe what they can understand and trust.

This is how Trump got elected, it doesn't work
Trump is gonna follow his word and stop lobbyists right
(he wont)
How did SpaceX fail again? I seem to recall many official space agencies in the past having disasters that caused the loss of human life, not a couple of unmanned rockets. Mistakes will be made, and they serve the betterment of the future.
This is how Trump got elected, it doesn't work
Why? What gives these idiots credibility, can't you just show that they're being bribed?
My initial thoughts are to have these evil lobbyists shot and killed, but saner heads prevail.
