Two Virginia Tech students were found shot to death at a forest campground that is a popular campus hangout, and police have "several persons of interest" but haven't yet identified a suspect or revealed a motive. The bodies of David Lee Metzler, 19, of Lynchburg and Heidi Lynn Childs, 18, of Forest were discovered early Thursday by a passerby at Jefferson National Forest, Montgomery County Sheriff's Lt. Brian Wright said. Both had been shot. Wright said Metzler's body was found inside a car in the parking area of the Caldwell Fields campground, and Childs was found outside the car. The campground is about 15 miles from Virginia Tech's campus in Blacksburg. Authorities have “several persons of interest” but have yet to name a suspect, according to the Lynchburg News & Advance.
Lot of people getting murdered at VT these days... Those no gun zones sure do save lives.
Maybe I should consider transferring to UVA instead...
They need to make a Hokies shirt with fake bullet holes and stab wounds to more accurately represent the campus.
Looks like Virginia Tech haves some sort of spooky curse shit.
No, just a tragic coincidence.
Those no gun zones sure do save lives.
Are you suggesting that unstable teens/young adults have guns in school?
No, just a tragic coincidence.
No, they may of built it on an Indian Burial ground! Wooooooooooooo! Scary!
This is horrible, it is one thing after another at Vtech.
Are you suggesting that unstable teens/young adults have guns in school?
I've CCW'd daily since 2005 without a problem. I'm sure I'm not the only one. People like me prevent these sort of things from happening in the 1st place. Teens can't buy or carry a handgun anyway, so that's a moot point. It doesn't mean people visiting the campus, teachers, security, and everyone else should be denied their CCW privileges. This isn't high school.
looks like I'm going to rethink my school.

In some states you're allowed to have a carry permit at 18, but that's more intended for being able to transport a rifle for hunting, or something along those lines.
We need less guns. Also, peace & love.
Cho rose from the dead.

Why do people first say packing heat is a must because people will anyway, with or without laws, and then say the law will prevent anything bad from happening. Well you didn't really say this, but why would you need a law that everyone ignores anyhow.

It's hard to determine who would be responsible enough. to carry a gun though, your the type who would seem responsible enough but many others aren't. I think waiting times are the biggest problem though, because a lot of gun related crimes are domestic and not in public and US waiting times are very short compared to Canada. An angry husband can act a lot more on impulse if he were to find his wife cheating on him. Gun control is a very grey area, a lot of situations could benefit from more guns and public and it could be a horrible idea for others. I myself had to take a gun safety course for a weekend, like a 12 hour course, I dunno if they do that over there. I dunno, I can't really pick a side with the gun control debate, I'd rather have a little taser gun or something for self defence. Sorry kinda went off topic there. :\
I can't really pick a side with the gun control debate, I'd rather have a little taser gun or something for self defence.
Exactly, there are plenty of ways to defend yourself without killing the intruder.

I got my ruger in 30 minutes
We need less guns.
That is stupid. Criminals will get their hands on weapons no matter what. Seeing as they're criminals and don't get a two shits about the law. Disarming responsible citizens and gun owners is a bad idea - they have no means to protect themselves from criminals. Most criminals are cowards so when they see that their target can defend themselves they run away. Taking away weapons from responsible people and law abiding citizens will only allow more events like this to occur. I'm not even from the U.S and i understand that..
Exactly, there are plenty of ways to defend yourself without killing the intruder.
It isn't about killing, it is about defending yourself and your family. You think a criminal with a gun is going to be stopped by some pepper spray? Or a taser? I hope you have good aim because you only have one shot and he has a full clip. Do you honestly think the intruder gives a flying fuck about you? Of course not, he is breaking in to your house for Christ sakes. Sure, i can agree the U.S needs high weapon restrictions, tougher background checks and all that. But taking away weapons from people who follow the rules isn't a solution to the problem. Because the problem isn't responsible gun owners, it is criminals who buy illegal weapons and use them in crimes. The problem isn't the guns, it is the people behind them.

I never had to have one for my CCW, but I did have to do an absurd amount of paperwork and wait 3 months. Canada isn't necessarily stricter on gun control, you can buy a sawed off shotgun legally, or any modern military issue assault rifle, save for AR15 and AK47 varriants. You just have bizarre gun control. I've never had to wait on buying a gun, my most recent one took about 10 minutes before I was in and out. But you also have to realize all the permits I hold too...
We need less guns.
I think we need less water cause people drown in it. and while were at it let's ban surgical tools cause they're sharp. and drinking glasses(lol Britain) and let's ban electronics, such as your computer, because people get electrocuted. and lets ban all tools, because most of them are sharp. y'know what, lets just ban people because they kill each other. would you really give up many things that make life easier or enjoyable just for your "safety"

Having guns to defend yourself from guns continues the cycle, criminals might get their hands on a weapon, but that doesn't mean the only thing to stop him will be having one yourself, there are many non-lethal substitutes.
Just about any object can be used as a potential weapon.
