• US Secretary of State: North Korea not an imminent threat
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson says there is no imminent threat from North Korea, despite Pyongyang saying it was considering strikes on the US Pacific territory of Guam. Flying into Guam, Mr Tillerson also defended President Donald Trump, who has threatened North Korea with "fire and fury". He said Mr Trump just wanted to send a clear message to North Korea. But the president has since boasted on Twitter about the US nuclear arsenal. In early morning tweets posted from New Jersey, where he is holidaying, Mr Trump said that the US nuclear arsenal was "more powerful than ever before", but added he was hopeful "we will never have to use this power". The tweets came after escalating rhetoric between the two sides, with the island of Guam - home to US military bases, strategic bombers and about 163,000 people - the focus of attention. Stopping in Guam for a refuelling stop after a trip to South East Asia, Mr Tillerson said he was hopeful a global "pressure campaign", involving both Russia and China, could lead to new dialogue with Pyongyang "about a different future". He defended President Trump's earlier language, saying that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un did not understand diplomatic language, and a strong message was needed that he would understand. "I think the president just wanted to be clear to the North Korean regime that the US... will defend itself and its allies," he said. The top US diplomat added the situation had not dramatically changed over the last few days, and that Americans "should sleep well at night". Earlier, North Korea's official KCNA news agency said Pyongyang was "carefully examining the operational plan for making an enveloping fire at the areas around Guam" using its domestically made medium-to-long-range Hwasong-12 missiles. The news agency reported a military statement issued on Tuesday, which probably came in response to US military drills in Guam. But in a message to the public, the governor of Guam, Eddie Baza Calvo, said there was currently "no threat" to the island and the Marianas archipelago, but that Guam was "prepared for any eventuality".
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-40879485
This just sounds like he's saying "there's nothing to worry about, everything's fine!". Kinda empty imo.
Ok now I'm worried
"Forget everything you just heard... And go back to sleep."
This raises the question, is there really no threat or do they just not want people to freak out?
Again, all huff and no fire.
So does this mean people should be freaking out? Don't they usually say its most fine when its the least fine?
One thing I've noticed that wasn't in this BBC article but was quoted in The New York Times, & CNN was this quote:
“Nothing I have seen and nothing I know of would indicate that the situation has dramatically changed in the last 24 hours.”
Which at best is him referring specifically to the dialogue in the last day while encompassing overall concerns, and at worst is a technical-truth to avoid admitting concerns grown from outside that span of time. Really up to you how you interpret it but I felt it was worth noting.
Well that's quite interesting, on march Tillerson sang a different tune, saying that the North Korean nuclear program is indeed an 'imminent' threat. So uh, which one is it? Is something really going on and he is trying to prevent people from panicking or did he change his mind?

How is our nuclear arsenal "more powerful"? Zero changes have been made you fucking orange muppet
How is our nuclear arsenal "more powerful"? Zero changes have been made you fucking orange muppet
Who knows, maybe he had the military turn the dial-a-yield knob on some of the bombs up to 11.

Getting some real mixed messages from the White House.
How is our nuclear arsenal "more powerful"? Zero changes have been made you fucking orange muppet
Because it is more powerful: https://www.armscontrol.org/factsheets/USNuclearModernization It's been getting upgraded and modernized and will continue to be modernized into the future
On the bright side, this means an imminent attack is FAR from likely and we have plenty of time to really think things through. Rest easy guys, we can all cool down for now.
Found an interesting graphic *snipping graphic, should have cross checked it
Found an interesting graphic
That leaves out the ROK Armed Forces - 600,000 active duty personnel, 3 million in the reserves as of 2016. That graphic isn't accurate.
