Am I the only one who find the past better than the present? Today, you see ugly gangsters with tattoos everywhere, but in the past you had fine gentlemen who wear suits.
And hearing from those past stories my dad or grandparents told me seems to make me think that the past is better.
And because people last time had to do more work because they lacked in technology, unlike today, we are just lazy arse sitting on our coms looking at facepunch and pressing F5 constantly.(admit it, you are one of them.)
And music in the past seems better than today. Or I just prefer those 40s/70s songs compared to today's heavy metal.

Everyone views the past in rose colored glasses. In reality it was the same if not much, much worse.
Not really. In the past there were a lot more slums even in bigger citys (London for example).
Violence and crime were present there as well, just in another form.

Besides that, they didn't have any national independence, they were either abused by the Japanese or the colonial British, their opinions had no influence on to the Government policies at that time. So yes, in terms of Singapore, the present is way better than the past.

Based on my personality and views, I honestly would've lived the most ideal life in 1950's America.

The past isn't a utopia, it seems better because no one ever talks about the bad things that happened to them. It's always the best, giving the impression that everything was always that way back then. But it's not.

To be honest, the 1950's would have been a perfect time to be alive, not in the least because of the sheer optimism towards the future, unlike what we have today.
Just because they got laid more often in the olden days doesn't mean it was better.

My past was better, the streets were safer in my area and i didn't have a care in the world.
