Are you ready? Hi ready, I'm Dad.
I thought this was more deserving of its own thread than it was to bump the mega thread, considering the Game Grumps are releasing it on Steam, July 13th. The video doesn't show much, but the screenshots and steam description show a little of what to expect.
Hell yeah.
Wait what, bit out of left field from the Game Grumps huh. :v: [editline]edit[/editline] More like gaaay grumps, am I right folks, shit why didn't they call the game that, they should hire me.
but why
-snip-
but why
Not to be a complete cynic, but $$$. I'm guessing a part of it has to do with how easy it is for a group of artists to make a game like this (if it was an in-house project), their brand recognition, brand expansion, and how the concept alone will attract the let's play community into doing their own LP's of it, which they can potentially get ad revenue off of or at the least make more sales. But, I'd imagine they're probably just testing the waters with a silly little visual novel before they decide to go blindly into making an actual game without experience in game-making.
Would make more sense if witwix or geepm or someone else who actually makes (hot) dad jokes was creating this game But the Game Grumps? Don't they come up with different jokes for everything?
Are you ready? Hi ready, I'm Dad.
This sounds like "Remember Dad Jokes? The Game" Produced by Things You Know™ Enterprises

This has to be Brian's doing.

Honestly, this seems like a bad move from the Grumps™ as the remains of their dwindling audience was too young for this sort of game and most have retarded themselves by following Arin's advice of dropping out of school.
A Game Grumps dating game about hot dads? Why not just re-brand it and feature themselves in it? It'd still be a visual novel, but it'd have some semblance of humor by putting themselves in awkward moments par from visual novels. I know Arin's humor can be repetitive, but did he mention something about dropping out, and people are actually taking that to heart?
It feels like those games that are only really good for absurd screenshots like the Sandler Dating sim or Llama dating sim. Hopefully they succeed though

Pretty sure Arin's never advised anyone to drop out of school. Just that that's what he did because he felt like it was right for him.
Here's the story of why Arin's parents pulled him out of high school https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayH4krH51XQ&feature=youtu.be&t=8m13s Also, I got my GED in high school as well and I graduated college three days ago with high honors (3.8+ GPA). To be fair I still wish I had completed some of the courses I didn't finish in HS (chemistry for example)
Arin dropped out of high school (got his GED) and usually when he brings it up he also says he's not advising anyone to drop out of high school
Whew thank god! That wording made it sound like he was. Arin being this successful as he is as a dropout is VERY rare. Like the chances of landing a big career is a miracle with a GED.
Like the chances of landing a big career is a miracle with a GED.
I had really high SAT scores so that probably made up for it. Doubt Arin had that luxury though.
When I was last watching Game Grumps regularly, which admittedly was a long time ago, he talked about how useless school was to him, with Dan agreeing with him because that's what Dan does I guess. I think it was the Katamari Damacy playthrough that I was thinking of.

It's like a 7 layer dip of dumb.
No Bowser?
I dunno how to feel about this. I'm a fan of the Game Grumps cast, but this game was written by someone on the crew, Vernon, who does creative development for the show. The cast is just doing voice work for it. I have no idea what to expect out of Vernon. I've hardly ever seen him. Dan and Arin talk about him, they're obviously friends, but the stories they tell make him sound like one of those guys who's funny because of who he is, not necessarily how he writes. Even without taking that into account, this game just looks like distilled cringe to me on first impression. It has the potential to be terrible, and I'm not optimistic.
Honestly, it just seems like DiscoInferno likes to shoehorn their hatred of Game Grumps/Egoraptor into a thread whenever they get the chance to.
There's a small group of people on here that like to poke their heads into any Game Grumps related thread and shit on them as much as humanly possible. It's pretty fuckin' stupid to me, but hey. This seems pretty amusing, my main gripe with it is that i thought we were passed that short dating sim fad? Kind of a day late and a dollar short. We'll see how it goes, i guess.
I advocate more dads and dad themes in games
