http://www.latimes.com/features/health/la-sci-mtzion1-2009aug01,0,3421802.story
U.S. archaeologists have found an extremely rare 2,000-year-old limestone cup inscribed with 10 lines of Aramaic or Hebrew script near the Zion Gate of the Old City of Jerusalem. Although the script itself is not eroded or otherwise degraded, he said, researchers are not yet able to decipher it because the text is in an informal cursive script and is apparently deliberately cryptic. They know it contains the Hebrew word for God, YHWH or Yahweh, indicating it was probably important to the priests who used it in rituals. Gibson expected it to take two to six months to understand its meaning. From the Second Temple Period, from 573 BC to AD 70, a housing complex with a mikvah or purification pool with a remarkably well-preserved vaulted ceiling was found. Inside the house were three bread ovens dating to AD 70, the year the Roman emperor Titus and his troops sacked the city. This area was believed to be a priestly habitat, confirmed by the discovery of 10 murex snail shells used to produce the ox-blood-red argaman dye used on priestly garments. On the level immediately above this, the researchers found the remains of a fire pit made by someone who stayed on the site shortly after its destruction.
Monty Python can stop searching now. Mel Gibson's relatives found it first.
Holy shit, but probably fake.
2000 years ago there were a bunch of priests gathered around a stone table playing quarters.
inb4 this turning into a religion shit storm for some shit reason.
if they say the magic spell on the cup maybe jesus will come back!
Holy shit, but probably fake.
Even if this is the frigging Grail, it's not going to make you immortal and able to outsmart Nazi's. It's just going to make your water taste funny..

Also: The skeletons of 2 girls were found next to the cup.
Also: The skeletons of 2 girls were found next to the cup.
Someone seriously needs to make 2maidens1grail.com.
Even if this is the frigging Grail, it's not going to make you immortal and able to outsmart Nazi's. It's just going to make your water taste funny..
It turns out to be an ancient bedpan.
Now THAT is the cup of a carpenter.
Now THAT is the cup of a carpenter.
Most myths on it refer to it being stone. You know, this reminds me of that one part in Doom 3 where [sp] the guy in the log file tells a story about a technician who gets hit by a laser beam and starts speaking in Aramaic. [/sp]
Hopefully this cup has some kinda information on it. Either that or it's some kinda Jewish religious hymn/song/poem/thing. People put words on the strangest things...
Holy shit, but probably fake.
Because we can't carbon date anything :downs:
I want to drink something out of it !
If it's real, then someone should drink from it and show that nothing happens, just to see the pope's expression when he realizes he's got a lot to explain now.

"Hey guys I've got an idea, let's make a cup with some random shit written on it and hide it in that grumpy neighbor's garden. That idiot will probably think it's real and go around saying he's been visited by aliens or something. Man this is gonna be hilarious"
Because we can't carbon date anything :downs:
There are people out there that don't accept any scientific proof of anything. You say carbon dating and they say there is no possible way that it can be done. One person that comes to mind is someone named Agun - he thinks the government is behind everything, from the dinosaurs all dieing, to not landing on the moon, to rainbows are created by chemicals in the water that the government put there to poison us... The list goes on.
A 2000 year old limestone cup? Damn, that's a rare find.
They should drink from it and see if they live forever.
Just because it's 2000 years old, doesn't mean it's The Grail. They had more than just the one cup 2000 years ago.
it's an ancient sperm bank from which mary had a vaginal drink that's how jesus was born.
