Woman beheaded for leaving the house without her husband
The 30-year-old woman was targeted by a group of armed men in Latti, Sar-e-Pul.
The area is a remote part of Afghanistan which is largely under the control of the Taliban.
Zabiullah Amani, provincial governor spokesperson said the woman was likely beheaded because she’d made the journey unaccompanied by her husband, who was in Iran at the time of the horrifying attack.
A completely fair and reasonable response.
What the fucking shit.
So barbaric
A lot of people still have the misconception that the Taliban aren't in any control of Afghanistan anymore, which is quite baffling.
Their reign of terror still reaches quite great lengths. They influence a huge amount of the country, especially rural areas. In fact, I'd argue that the Taliban insurgency have begun to really make huge sweeps in territorial gains, even after the deaths of many higher-up leaders and figures.
No influence, they outright control several provinces. They gained them just last year.
By that word choice, I mean in terms of culture and such. From what I've gathered from by late grandfather, and sources before I was born, is that Afghanistan used to be quite a nice place, that was quickly entering a liberal and Western-minded lifestyle. Mohammed Daoud Khan, for instance, made great strides in women's rights (until the Soviet Union invaded, and in a joint operation with the PDPA, assassinated him).
But yes, that is true. They do control a lot of provinces. But their "influence" still leaves a mark in places that are apparently "free" from their grasp.
Absolutely disgusting. You'd have to be sick in the head to even think of murdering someone over something as benign as this.
Sadly this is the reality for lots of these areas. They've had these ideas ingrained in their heads that this is how things should be, and it's highly unlikely that they could be convinced otherwise
According to Taliban rules, women are strictly prohibited from leaving their home unless accompanied by a man, usually a husband or relative.
So why did she leave the house
That's Islamic fundamentalism for you.
This is why folks are so tetchy about Sharia Law and where misinterpretation can lead.
So why did she leave the house
I don't know man that sonic one got like 2400 funnies. It's pretty hard to ever achieve that kind of feat ever again.
So why did she leave the house
Who knows? Could be she needed to run a random errand like picking up drinking water or firewood, or maybe she just wanted to visit her sister in the next village.
