The death toll from Massey Energy’s Upper Big Branch mine explosion last week has reached a total of 29 miners, the worst coal disaster in 40 years. When the disaster occurred, Massey was contesting millions of dollars in major safety violations levied against the mine. At his Labor Day anti-union rally last year, Massey CEO Don Blankenship attacked the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), claiming it “seeks power over coal miners.” He mocked both “Washington politicians” and local elected officials who attempt to ensure miner safety, calling their efforts “as silly as global warming”:
http://wonkroom.thinkprogress.org/2010/04/12/blankenship-silly-safety/ That's capitalism for ya'.
Sounds like a very heated battle over the safety of these miners. :downsrim: Wait, no, not very heated, just one guy saying something that's bullshit.
Sounds like a very heated battle over the safety of these miners. :downsrim:
That makes just enough sense that I can't say "That makes no sense" but it still makes no sense.
I was thinking of landmines when I read the thread title first time. Then I read it again.

Communist China has had some of the had some of the worst and the most amount of coal mining disasters. It's a shame that you use this tragedy to make an unfounded attack on the free market.
Communist China has had some of the had some of the worst and the most amount of coal mining disasters. It's a shame that you use this tragedy to make an unfounded attack on the free market.
That's because China's coal mines are almost completely unregulated. :downs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coal_power_in_China#Accidents_and_Deaths
The government has been cracking down on unregulated mining operations, which account for almost 80 percent of the country's 16,000 mines. The closure of about 1,000 dangerous small mines last year helped to cut in half the average number of miners killed, to about six a day, in the first six months of this year, the government has said. Major gas explosions in coal mines remain a problem, though the number of accidents and deaths have gradually declined year by year, the chief of the State Administration of Work Safety, Luo Lin, told a national conference in September.[44]
So they started regulating mines, and safety improved. Shocking. It's a shame that you use this tragedy to show how retarded you are.
Ironic username of the year
Companies in high-risk fields like that always take out huge life insurance policies on their employees, so he's laughing all the way to the bank right now. The company is a lot better off cashing checks for a bunch of dead people than being stuck paying out a lifetime of medical bills.
Well tbh what can you expect..It is a fucking mine, it isn't going to be 100% safe, but efforts should be made by the company.
Why is this guy allowed to own a mine
holy shit

He said it before.
He should put a message in a piece of coal which says: "Don't leave me out in the coal.", then put it on the MSHA's doorstep. Gets em every time.
Anyone watch the video? Amazing flag shirt flag hat flag background combo. :patriot:
Well tbh what can you expect..It is a fucking mine, it isn't going to be 100% safe, but efforts should be made by the company.
The company kept it dangerous to cut on costs because they didn't give a fuck about the workers, who only wanted to be safe while working [editline]09:05PM[/editline] watched the video. "The safety and health of coal miners is my most important job" ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS?? he fucking killed these people
That's because China's coal mines are almost completely unregulated.
How on Earth does that make China a communist country?
It isn't.
It isn't.
That is odd. Why do they say they are?
Anyone watch the video? Amazing flag shirt flag hat flag background combo. :patriot:
Nothing more American then sending Americans to work in dangerous conditions, getting them killed, and then profiting from it
Anyone watch the video? Amazing flag shirt flag hat flag background combo. :patriot:
seriously, what is this? are you a retarded Christian and nationalist too?
That is odd. Why do they say they are?
Initially they, along with the Soviet Union, were running on ideals of Communism, and working towards a stateless, classless society. Then Lenin died, and Stalin took over and fucked shit up by being a paranoid insane mother, which strayed them off the path, and keeping them in a state of the Dictatorship of the Proletariat. Mao Zedong kept the same sort of thing, but split with the USSR for reasons that I frankly can't recall right now. Plus, tell the people you're there for them, and they're more likely to follow/support you. An ideal you see in all nations, all parties, and all ideologies [editline]09:34PM[/editline]
seriously, what is this? are you a retarded Christian and nationalist too?
Not serious, comrade
How on Earth does that make China a communist country?
I was saying they have so many deaths because their coal industry is unregulated.
seriously, what is this? are you a retarded Christian and nationalist too?
I'm neither of those but nice try. [editline]09:08PM[/editline] Because any self-respecting nationalist would know that wearing flags as a costume is disrespectful. [editline]09:09PM[/editline] i am p. retarded tho
Oh well, I guess the families of those workes really got shafted Also, I've noticed that people with the name Don always tend to be pompous assholes. I'M NOT SAYING THAT EVERY GUY IS.
