• How can I practice music without an instrument currently?

I've become too self conscious about bothering my neighbors with my acoustic piano, so I chose to stop playing until I can buy a digital piano. Thing is I won't have enough money to buy a digital piano for a while. So are there any good games to practice rhythm, ear-training or anything like that without an instrument?
Guitar Hero/Rock Band Or get FL Studios and play with that
http://www.musictheory.net/ There are tons of free ear-trainers out there, if you look for them. Were it me, though, I'd keep bangin' away at the keys. If you can't get comfortable playing for neighbors who may only be passively listening, how can you expect to be even remotely comfortable playing in front of an engaged audience?
Screw neighbors, and screw what people think about you.
Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I will now practice scales and arpeggios in every key like normal tomorrow. [editline]10:35PM[/editline] I still wish I could play at night though.
I still wish I could play at night though.
Use your mute pedal. It might not sound like it to you when you're in front of the piano, but it makes a world of difference. Mute pedal + sustain pedal, and you can still have the sustain while being quiet. Or you could prepare your piano so it doesn't make as much sound. Doing that every night might be a pain in the ass, though.
yeah, I'm sure your neighbours can deal with it. Keep playing your acoustic.
Is it an upright piano? Just a random idea but maybe open the lid and put a duvet in there?:v:
You could always search for that Key-bored thread in GD, try to transcribe songs and such.
Open your mouth so your cheeks are gaunt and slap them with your hands rhythmically.
Do what my old school teacher made kids without a piano do at home. Draw keys on the table.
Pick up a couple theory books; they are seriously helpful.
you live there they can deal with it
you live there they can deal with it
By your logic, I should just blast my music as loud as it can go, because hey, I live there right?
you live there they can deal with it
they deal with it by calling the cops.
