(Reuters) - Syrian activists accused President Bashar al-Assad's forces of launching a nerve gas attack on rebel-held districts near Damascus on Wednesday that they said killed more than 200 people. Activists said rockets with chemical agents hit the suburbs of Ain Tarma, Zamalka and Jobar in the Ghouta region. Bayan Baker, a nurse at Douma Emergency Collection facility, said the death toll from the attack, collated from medical centers in the region, was 213. "Many of the casualties are women and children. They arrived with their pupil dilated, cold limbs and foam in their mouths. The doctors say these are typical symptoms of nerve gas victims," she said. One photo purportedly taken by activists in Douma showed the bodies of at least 16 children and three adults, one wearing combat fatigues, laid at the floor of a room in a medical facility where the bodies were collected. There was no immediate comment from Syrian authorities, who have denied using chemical weapons during the country's two-year conflict, and have accused rebels of using them, which the rebels deny.
Reuters Gas Aftermath #1 Gas Aftermath #2 [U]Look at the videos at your own discretion! inb4 the Russia Today article on how Syrian Terrorists~ are gassing themselves again to make Assad look bad. (User was banned for this post ("inb4" - Orkel))
Didn't Obama draw the line when it comes to gas attacks? I guess western governments are still too afraid to do anything about it though, since Taliban related forced teamed up with the rebels.

I still find it a little odd that the government is supposed to be the one doing this, after directly being threatened with intervention by the US. Surely only the rebels would gain from this kind of attack?

Surely only the rebels would gain from this kind of attack?
It doesn't seem right that Assad would gas attack like this, or his trained military. Why would they? They don't have anything to gain from gassing an area, specially setting it up, with people inside. The only ones I could see doing this, are the radical rebels that disguised themselves as possible SAA, planted gas, and are now trying to scream for the world to help them. So who's to judge if a video is one sided or not? How can we tell it was the SAA? Or the FSA? No one can tell.

Your move, laserguided
This is pretty messed up, especially the second video.
We won't have to speculate for long, there are UN chemical weapons inspectors in the country right now. The government should be more than happy for them to inspect this site if it was all staged by the rebels, right?
this is disturbing
Obama says alot of things..
He probably doesn't want another ten year middle eastern war is all. It's really tragic but I don't think the U.S. should intervene in things it really can't control like this.
Wait, two threads? Or are they different attacks? [editline]21st August 2013[/editline] my god confusion
