'these days jagex has gotten a lot better' except it hasn't, because you have shit like the runescape card game that jagex made, didn't advertise about, and just stopped development entirely after a couple of updates same with darkscape jagex hasn't changed at all, the only reason why osrs is up and getting updates is because theres a lot of people playing it
holy shit I remember playing arcanists f2p for HOURS on this site, total nostalgia overload wow. Totally forgot about that game

Sad that they abandoned it.
I really enjoyed their card game too. Sad that they abandoned it.
That case is honestly quite shameful, because compared to a lot of modern card games that are basically just hearthstone, chronicles was actually very distinct and interesting. The market pretty much needed something like it. The death of funorb also gets me as well, I loved arcanists and armies of gielenor a lot. And a lot of the other games were alright as well like the mech one and void hunters. Jagex is honestly a pretty shitty company and if runescape wasn't as big of a hit as it was they probably wouldn't even still be around today.
I spent so fucking long playing Arcanists which was just a Worms clone. Didn't know it at the time though.

they were insane trying to tie flash games to a sub fee
i don't see how a company giving up on a failed product is somehow a bad thing
As he mentioned, they didn't even really try to push it with advertising. It's also not great to instantly abandon a game, especially if they have a reliable cash-cow to keep them funded.
i don't see how a company giving up on a failed product is somehow a bad thing
it wasn't a failed product right off the bat, if they actually did anything with it, the game might have been in an alright place but jagex didn't advertise, and didn't even port it to mobile/tablets (which is a ton of advertisement+users) and this was after like a month of the game being out that they abandoned it. And I can guess it's because it didn't reach hearthstone levels of players
Talk about being hit in the nostalgia balls, so many hours spent on Arcanists.
Talk about being hit in the nostalgia balls, so many hours spent on Arcanists.
you can still play arcanists, just gotta do it over internet explorer.
