Improved in-game overlay compatibility with some third-party software Does this mean I won't get "disallowed program/driver" punkbuster kicks in COD2/4?
Improved in-game overlay compatibility with some third-party software Does this mean I won't get "disallowed program/driver" punkbuster kicks in COD2/4?
Fraps and Mumble can sometime cause this problem.
"Crash fix in voice chat" Fuck yes! It kept constantly crashing for me
no
Yes it does, I played COD4 for 30 minutes or so with Steam overlay enabled. Usually it's 10 max.
Yes it does, I played COD4 for 30 minutes or so with Steam overlay enabled. Usually it's 10 max.
punkbuster isnt steam thus where the no comes from if steam changes the overlay behavior it might take longer for it to trigger.
punkbuster isnt steam thus where the no comes from if steam changes the overlay behavior it might take longer for it to trigger.
You know how steam overlay works? It intercepts direct3d calls and does it own shit with it so it can draw the overlay. you know, how hacks work. it said "third party software" which is an extremely vague term but could cover punkbuster.
I can bypass steam with COD4, just drag a shortcut of the iw3mp.exe file to the task bar thingie and run with through there
Whenever I'm playing Oblivion and I open up the overlay, it closes immediately after. I hope that's the fix.
All I want now is a 64 bit overlay.
Now how can I update the drivers for ATI/AMD?
* Added support to update AMD/ATI video drivers
:allears:
Yes it does, I played COD4 for 30 minutes or so with Steam overlay enabled. Usually it's 10 max.
I just got kicked for a Disallowed Program, it's not fixed.
Now how can I update the drivers for ATI/AMD?
That feature will start working once the 10.9 catalyst comes out, from what I've heard.
It already works. Open steam dropdown menu, it's under Check for steam updates. It's not listed under downloads though. Oh well, it's a start.
I just got kicked for a Disallowed Program, it's not fixed.
Fixed for me, I run Fraps and Xfire as well.

Oh well, it's a start.
It doesn't seem like that option was what they were talking about - see this thread: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1001728
AMD today announced its collaboration with Valve to deliver ATI Catalyst™ graphics driver updates via its Steam platform, a leading platform for PC games and digitalentertainment. Steam users can now detect and install the latest ATI Catalyst driver for their ATI Radeon™ graphics card directly from within Steam. Valve’s most recent Steam Hardware Survey shows that fully 87 percent of DirectX® 11 gamers are enjoying ATI Radeon or ATI Mobility Radeon™ hardware...snipped marketing blurb...”Valve is extremely pleased to be working with AMD to provide automatic driver updates for AMD’s leading edge products on Steam,” said Jason Holtman, director of business development at Valve."
Waiting to see some kind of notification on steam.
Added support to update AMD/ATI video drivers
fuck yes :pcgaming:
I just installed the update. Installer gave an error at the end - no ati device or compatible hardware (or something like that) This needs some polish [editline]10:48PM[/editline] PROTIP: If you encounter problems (and you will), manually run the installer as administrator in "\Steam\steamapps\common\amd driver updater, [VERSION]".
I just tried it, didn't encounter any problems.
"Improved in-game overlay compatibility with some third-party software" :woop:
Neato.
Wish I had waited last night with this, I manually installed 10.9. Oh well, I'll see it when 10.10 comes out
Added support to update AMD/ATI video drivers
I love this :buddy:
still doesn't solve the issue of ATI bugs. Was browsing the web last night, quit only to be given a broken up cursor, a hand with 7 fingers and a big black block for the cursor when highlighting text.
VALVe isn't responsible for ATI's drivers. Go bug ATI about them. Bug. Haha.
AMD support? really? ever since the update, the programs i run on steam have super low framerate even on the menu! i was able to run my tf2 and garrysmod on the highest settings available in the advanced video section, and now even putting it on the lowest options available it still gets lower than thirty fps. visibly. [editline]08:16PM[/editline] EDIT: nevermind. all it needed was a computer restart.
