Conflict over the responsibility for the government shutdown got personal at the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. Wednesday when a member of Congress confronted a U.S. Park Service Ranger over access to the closed park land.
The congressman was Randy Neugebauer, a Republican representing Texas. He confronted the ranger in the middle of a crowd of tourists as she was keeping most of the public out of the closed World War II memorial.
The Park Service has been allowing World War II vets who have traveled from all over the country to enter the memorial, even though it's closed during the government shutdown; the rangers say they are exercising their First Amendment rights as they let the veterans in.
But they are keeping the rest of the public out of the facility, which is officially closed. And that did not sit well with the congressman, reported News4's Mark Segraves, who witnessed the confrontation.
Ignorant prick.
What an unbelievable asshole.
He sounds like a complete tool.
On the bright side, this shutdown has caused some disgruntled people to come forward and speak out against the government's ignorance. They in turn get recognized by the media, which means their statements are being heard by tons of other people. It seems like we're finally starting to wake up.
I'm not saying America is going to fully wake up and kick these guys out of office, but it's good to know that some people aren't being fooled so easily.
Wow.
It's like he doesn't even know what the shutdown he supports caused.
I hope the GOP catches a shower of flak for this. Their bullshit was the reason this happened, after all.

"America" doesn't vote for "these guys". Mississippians vote for some of them. Illinoisians vote for some of them. New Yorkers vote for some of them. North Dakotans vote for some and Californians vote for some. And guess what? All these people from these places have different opinions and many support shutting down the government. So the entire nation is not going to rise up as a whole because it is not a whole, and even if it were the people do not think as some hive mind and they don't act according to your opinions.
Also, when you say the words "wake up" you sound like a conspiracy theorist nutjob.

hey! we do our best to gerrymander them out!

It's clear that 90% of politicians are ignorant regardless of where they come from, and everybody just kinda sits there. I'm just glad that some people are fed up with it and saying what's been on a lot of people's minds. And did you even read the second line of my post? I said exactly what you said in the bolded part.
Side note: I used the phrase "wake up" twice, which I usually don't like to do because it sounds redundant. I wasn't trying to emphasize that specific wording or anything. But thanks for calling me a nutjob. Would "coming to realize the fact that none of the people that anybody votes for actually cares about them in the slightest" make you feel better?
I'm probably digging myself into a hole here, so I'm not gonna bother continuing after this.
He should have stood up in front of all of those veterans, pointed at the congressman, and reminded everyone about the reason for the park's closure. I suspect government employees can't be actively political while on the job but a friendly reminder of which district the congressman represents and an encouragement to vote wouldn't hurt!
That prick of a Congressman should've gotten punched right in the mouth. Fuck the consequences, people like that shouldn't be allowed to speak to people who are just doing the jobs that they themselves forced them to do.
They only care when it affects them, which it hardly does. The people who are being hurt the most are poorer people that the GOP couldn't give a shit about.

they're so out of touch with the people. 99.999% of the public isn't going to use a tour bus turnaround, dipshit.

"He's a meanie so hit him in the face!"
Don't be such a baby.

He's an arrogant jackass who is verbally abusing his employees in public for doing a job that he forced them to do.
Hit him in the goddamn mouth.
It may be puerile, and he can go bitch and moan about it later, but it's deserved.
This is a guy who gets to vote about whether or not we send soldiers to go shoot people, and he's so out of touch with reality that he thinks park rangers that are doing their jobs are out of line due to his inadequacies? Fuck him. Let him spit blood and teeth for a while. It'll be a life lesson for the bastard.
At that point, a crowd of onlookers got involved. "Ask those questions of the people who aren't passing the budget," shouted a voice from the crowd. "That's who you need to ask these questions to."

"This woman is doing her job, just like me," shouted another. "I'm a 30-year federal veteran -- I'm out of work."
The man, wearing a bicycle helmet, at this point was face to face with the congressman.
"Well, the reason you are is because Mr. Reid decided to shut down the government," responded Neugebauer, referring to the top Senate Democrat.
"No, it's because the government won't do its job and pass a budget," the bicyclist responded.
"The House did its job; it passed appropriations. The Senate hasn't," said another voice from the crowd.
Neugebauer walked away at that point.
Good on these people for not buying into Neugebauer's crap and actually discussing the issue.

Lol you clearly care nothing for the concept of free speech. What's the point of the government running if you're just going to take shits on the Constitution?

Do they really think we're that stupid to not know who's fault this is?
Do they really think we're that stupid to not know who's fault this is?
To many, it is the fault of the Democrats and Obama. Think about it. Put yourself in the shoes of a Republican. They are serving the people's interests by fighting Obamacare, and when the Democrats won't allow it to be de-funded in the budget, the government shuts down. It looks like Obama's fault now.
It's stupid because Obamacare is a good thing, but to a Republican the logic is sound.

I was more talking about how he's blaming Obama when this whole clusterfuck was shit out of Congress. Sorry wasn't clear :v:

To be honest, both sides I think have done their fair share of shit flinging at each other. I'm getting a bit tired of just pointing fingers at one side.
The Republicans were warned in advance that the senate will not pass a bill that defunds obamacare

Well they I think Newt is putting this on Obama because he proposed the healthcare in the first place.
Yeah it's convoluted and idiotic, like most things Republicans say and do.

No they aren't. They lied about the affordable care act to craft false interests

I think that they
1. Believe their own bullshit
2. Don't care and want the defeat of Obamacare at all costs
Either way they are stupid and childish

Yes buy yourself a title that lets others know your lack of reading comprehension.
I know what you think I said and I'm not going to explain why you're wrong.

Even what you meant isn't true, you meant that republicans are trying to serve the people and failing, where in reality they're trying to serve their own interests and succeeding. It's just that those words in succession are hilarious.

How is halting Obamacare serving their interests? I mean, I agree to the extent that they believe that Obamacare is not good for American, and so they will oppose it. In that way, they are serving their own interests, of course. But I think you're inferring some sort of corporate conspiracy or something. I'm not sure I get it.

Well, they of course shouldn't halt the whole damn thing (Obamacare). I think it just needs to be reexamined.
