As per the wishes of AIADMK cadre in the State, ‘Amma’ will return to Fort St. George as Chief Minister to herald a glorious era, Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam declared in the Assembly on Wednesday.
Dedicating a chapter of his budget speech in praise of AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa, who had to step down as Chief Minister after a special court convicted her in a disproportionate assets case, the Chief Minister said that she had faced trials and tribulations right from the day she entered politics. She had to overcome innumerable challenges. Even now, her enemies were conspiring to remove her from public life, but those who oppose her should realise they have no future.
Claiming that the public sympathised with her, the Chief Minister said ‘Amma’ would defeat the political conspiracy hatched against her.
Let me see: The public only sympathizes with you because you've turned them into brainwashed bought and paid for minions, especially the desperately poor. Your Glorious Leader stole so much money she's accounted as being one of the richest people in this country. Her conviction ensured that she cannot participate in elections for 10 years. How much, I wonder, did she pay you to act as her mouthpiece? I hope they hurry up with the sentencing and throw her back into prison.
I thought Kim Jong un was the glorious leader?

I find it ironic now since if you would think of a leader that people call him a "glorious Leader". It usually means that leader is bad news.
I know nothing about Indian politics, can somebody give me a rundown on what's happening?
Also do you guys want to rejoin the empire, we miss you.

She's one of the two strongmen (strong woman) who are a major political force here, she heads up one of the largest political parties in the south, the AIADMK. The elections are usually a two-horse race run between her and the other strongman, Karunanidhi, the leader of the DMK party. There are a bunch of smaller political outfits but are only relevant when it's time to get enough seats in the legislative assembly to form a government. They can't win the elections on their own.
I would be understating things when I say that politics here is so rotten it's impossible to be a good man or idealist in the political scene. Either you get forced out of the arena through intimidation or sometimes murder, or you become as rotten as the rest of the individuals in the political arena. This is not to say that we're completely free of honest people - they're just totally drowned out by the large-scale corruption that you see here. Entire districts are traded around like fiefs between leaders jockeying for a position of power in the echelons of ruling parties.
A small addendum; to be a politician here in theory commands great respect. Unfortunately all of this respect happens to be only of the crooked kind. Politicians (even the lowly members of the legislative assembly) carry great weight - to be one enables a smooth road wherever you go and in anything you do. This can also be abused to a ludicrous extent if you fancy lining your pockets - it's the equivalent of running a protection racket, all you need to do is snap your fingers and tell somebody you need this done, or else.
And in addition to all this, the police force is nearly completely in the pockets of the political leaders. The loyalties of each individual cop can be traced back to the one or the other large party. There are fence sitters who show their loyalty to the party which happens to be in power at the moment and will happily switch back when the other party wins the elections. Again, there are honest cops - one of my relatives is on the force, an inspector. The problem is, the average cop is only interested in how much he can get by way of bribes and protection money. Money which political outfits can provide in ridiculous amounts.
This woman stole the better part of $2 billion over the period of her crooked career. The assets which were seized when she got convicted this time around were hardly a tenth of the purported fortune she has stowed away in offshore accounts. I'll link the article about the disproportionate assets case from Wikipedia to show you, it summarized it nicely, but it doesn't have most of the unofficial details.

Dirty and corrupt as fuck, probably one of the most corrupt governments on the face of the planet. Studies have shown that India would have had larger success under British rule due to the amount of money mining the politicians do from the government.

No he's just a great reader. Wow though that is some wied and messed up government, like the article paints a picture of more pork spending instead of actual budgetary spending like a ton of questionable education subsidies instead of just raising education budget
The plight of the modern world, too many take what they see around them instead of make more
