So last night, I went to go see The Boondock Saints II and this three minute advert started playing for the National Guard.

What the fuck is this? It doesn't make me want to join the National Guard, it makes me want to go fucking kill myself knowing that our government thinks this will appeal to people.

Pfft, it's a recruiting ad, they're full of shit by default. Lets face it, the military isn't going to get anyone to sign up if they tell people what actually happens.
"Sign up now, and after a year of getting shot at, right when you're about to go home, we extend your tour another six months! Act now and you too could wind up bleeding to death in the sand after getting your legs blown off by an IED! Like shooting Muslims to protect America's oil? Well you're in luck!"
Yeah, that's not going to inspire anybody. Might as well just run some professionally shot footage of people doing fun shit.

The ad is just filled with guns that you'll never shoot, tanks you'll never drive, helicopters you'll never pilot and action filled firefights that you will never fight in.
So basically, "JOIN NATIONAL GUARD PLEASE, IT'S JUST LIKE BATTLEFIELD!"

National Guard Adverts are like the G.I. Joe trailers. You wish our military could do that kinda of stuff, but they don't. :v:
The shots are also really cliche, the amount of times i've seen boats going into waves and people turning to the camera with shitty text graphics is untrue.

The UK and US vids talk about serving the nation, but that one seems more to focus on being happy in the military.
