So I could open a walrusery(grocery)?! That's awesome.
-fucking hell one second too late-
So are load times still really long in The Sims 4?
Oh man, this expansion looks good. Looking forward to getting it, already pre-ordered.
So are load times still really long in The Sims 4?
Load times have never been bad in 4. Also, basements are coming in a free update later in the month.
Honestly, this is probably the best Sims Expansion for quite some time if these trailers are anything to go by.
"we're bringing the sims to life in an entirely new way" oh, I guess open for business didn't happen.
i think Get to Work has really put The Sims 4 on radar for me. Capitalism Ho!
Load times have never been bad in 4. Also, basements are coming in a free update later in the month.
I remember getting so much shit for having the gall to insist that pools and basements, and other features would likely be free updates post-release. And whatya know. [editline]11th March 2015[/editline] But yeah, Sims 4's a good game, it just needed more stuff to actively do. This seems to provide just that!
Is this the first time The Sims has gotten Basements?
So are load times still really long in The Sims 4?
Load times are pretty short, but since it's no longer an Open World like Sims 3, they're more frequent (any time you change lot). Not a massive issue, though.
Is this the first time The Sims has gotten Basements?
You could sort of fake them in The Sims 2, and they were patched into The Sims 3 for free shortly after the release of World Adventures.
So THAT'S how you pronounce "Simoleons"... I always said "Sim-oh-lee-ohns" [editline]11th March 2015[/editline] On that note, now it sounds like "Somolians", which makes me think of Somalia. [editline]11th March 2015[/editline] "Slave Trade" patch for "Get To Work" expansion pack confirmed.
Great to see we can make our own stores in The Sims again. I remember doing that back in The Sims 2, I was pretty upset when I noticed that The Sims 3 didn't have that.
Open for Business was my favorite Sims 2 expansion.. I remember building a store in it once and played it a lot and then decided to play another family in the neighborhood who had been visiting my store.[sp]One sim in that family had 45 TVs, 30 couches and about 100+ other random items in his inventory and was $80k+ in the red.[/sp] I might end up getting The Sims 4 at some point to get this expansion if it goes on sale at some point. $80AUD still too much for it.
"we're bringing the sims to life in an entirely new way" oh, I guess open for business didn't happen.
Open for Business was similar but I don't recall it having this depth.
So this expansion is TS2 open for business + TS3 ambitions. Pretty nice, those were both solid late production cycle expansions that brought a lot on the table with new gameplay. I thought that this expansion was going to be an ambitions redo, but I had no idea they were reviving the shopkeeping stuff too. I'm actually pretty pumped now, get to work seems quite substantial.

I live in the USA so naturally we'd capitalize the shit out of that Remember the telemarketer for funeral services who called a guy, and the guy pretended to be on the brink of committing suicide? And offered to write a check and the guy said You're about to kill yourself, that's not going to clear.... You got a credit card instead? That's the USA.
I'm a Sales Supervisor at my Best Buy. I'm totally going to make a Best Buy-esque store. Then I will literally live retail.
Didn't Maxis get shut down though?
Maxis hasn't made a Sims game since 2 dude, it's The Sims Studio that handles the majority now.
Didn't Maxis get shut down though?
Valid question; yes Maxis was shut down, but The Sims IP has been shifted to The Sims Studio. It's a team who solely works on The Sims. They were part of Maxis, but I think that either just that wing is alive or they've been moved under EA directly. They're the ones responsible for The Sims series since 3.
Didn't Maxis get shut down though?
Maxis Emeryville: Spore, SimCity 2013, etc... Closed down. The Sims Studio: Finished The Sims 2, All of The Sims 3 and 4 + most of the expansions. Alive and well. EA Salt Lake City: Three of the Sims 3 expansion packs, a lot of the microtransaction content. Also alive. Maxis Helsinki and Maxis Melbourne: Mobile adaptions (The Sims Freeplay, SimCity BuildIt etc.)... Both still alive.

Yeah get to work so you can afford our overpriced expansions.
Which of those maxises made the first sims, simcities and the rest of the old stuff?
Maxis's Walnut Creek studio. That was closed down in 2004 near the end of The Sims 2 development, and the staff moved to either the new Emeryville offices or what would become The Sims Studio at EA's Redwood City campus.
I may actually buy sims 4, this looks really great
