Said the Times: “The group, New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms, alleges that the Senate violated the state’s open meetings law in the run-up to the vote on the marriage bill and acted improperly in closing the Senate lobby to members of the public. “The lawsuit also asserts that Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo had no basis for issuing a so-called message of necessity, which allowed lawmakers to vote on the marriage bill immediately after the language was drawn up, rather than allowing it to “age” for three days, as is usually required.”
Talk about grasping for straws. Let it be already.
Does any of that actually violate the federal or New York state Constitutions? Do they cite the part that prohibits them from doing this?
Funny how they put freedom in their group name, then try to restrict freedom.
Does any of that actually violate the federal or New York state Constitutions? Oh bigots, when will you ever get with the times?
They're saying the governor had no right to make the Marriage Equality act a message of necessity, which allowed lawmakers to vote on it immediately.
Yeah but even though Cuomo's justification for it wasn't very good, does the State Constitution actually prohibit him from doing this?
Oh bigots, when will you ever get with the times?
They might not even be bigots. They could just be strict constructionists, which is a million times worse.
Yeah but even though Cuomo's justification for it wasn't very good, does the State Constitution actually prohibit him from doing this?
Well I would assume if they're taking legal action there has to be SOMETHING to have a base on, otherwise they're knowingly burning money. How sound that base is, I can't be sure, I would assume the governor would have the power to legally do this, but I do not live in New York nor do I know their laws regarding this.
I think a law concerning civil rights deserves to be a message of necessity.
Why are these people still living with logic from the Middle Ages? Being gay is the new being left handed.
Just GIVE THE FUCK UP, it's happened and it's done with. Jesus christ, they're worse then children.
Just GIVE THE FUCK UP, it's happened and it's done with. Jesus christ, they're worse then children.
Children would gladly accept gays. In all seriousness, the more I read the news, the more I realize what a failure we are as a species.

So, they are suing a state. popcorn.jpg
So, they are suing a state. popcorn.jpg
It's been done before, and the state has lost before. That's one thing to truly admire about America, is that if a state passes an unconstutional law, you can sue them and actually have a chance at winning. Except this law violates nothing in the constitution, in fact I'm pretty sure it falls under freedom of expression.

Then I would actually like this country.
Why did you quote my post to say that?
Why did you quote my post to say that?
Why didn't you quote my post to say that? You were on the topic of loving the US.
Complete and utter bigots and homophobes. They say that their version of Jesus would hate these people, when in fact I thought he said "Love thy neighbor as thy self," didn't he?
The bible says homos are to be killed.
The old testament did, it also not to eat pork and that women were inherently unclean.
Except lefties are a slight problem. Do you know how annoying it is to move around your WIRED mouse and WIRED keyboard after a left handed person used it? I have to move the damn things behind my monitor to get them into an acceptable position for use.
I'm a left handed person, but use my mouse with the right hand. Its funky to use my left hand with it.

That's really weird.
Yeah, I'm left handed and putting the mouse on the left side feels awkward as hell. What I want to know is how the hell one can move a keyboard to be left handed...
I think these people are literally the only ones God would hate.
I'm left handed and I've never moved a mouse to the left side of the keyboard, or even seen anyone do that. That's really weird.
I'm left handed, what's weird about having the mouse on the left side of the keyboard? Also, I'm using a right handed mouse which makes perfect sense.
Funny how they put freedom in their group name, then try to restrict freedom.
I don't think the average American knows the definition of freedom anymore, it's just another word for America in their minds.
