Maddox sues Dick Masterson, Asterios Kokkinos, Patreon, and more for $20,000,000

Quick prerequisite knowledge:
Maddox has a serious grudge against Dick Masterson, a former co-host on a now defunct podcast called The Biggest Problem in the Universe. He bizarrely accused Dick Masterson of having straight up stolen money, apologizing for rape, and having a community that maintains a rape list and having his girlfriend literally call every school in LA to try and get Dick's girlfriend fired. This lead to a successful restraining order against Maddox's girlfriend for being a fucking creepo. Maddox also tried to file a trademark for The Biggest Problem in the Universe behind Dick Masterson's back, leading to more legal trouble and failure. And now we are here, with a new lawsuit from Maddox against Dick and friends for $20,000,000 for emotional distress.
Plaintiffs’ entire lives have been disrupted by Defendants’ actions, and have consequently, suffered severe mental anguish, emotional distress, and extreme humiliation and embarrassment from the reprehensible actions of Defendants. Plaintiff Ouzounian has lost fans, a significant amount of income and sponsors for his own show, and sustained considerable injury to his professional image, brand and marketability by Defendants’ continued campaigns and harassments, which, most recently, has been directed at Plaintiff’s new book.
Other important facts:
- Maddox lives in LA, not in New York.
- Jane Doe is an alias for his girlfriend, most likely to prevent the case from getting thrown out for the restraining order
- Maddox wrote the 200+ page defense for his girlfriend in the restraining order case and most likely had a huge role in the writing of this document
- It is likely that Maddox is simply trying to get Dick's Patreon closed down and Dick's friends fired from their jobs
Since it's likely that not everyone here is well versed in this endless beef, I can answer questions about it. You can also find a community-maintained timeline of events here.
I have no idea who any of these people are but that is quite a lot of money.
Maddox has officially lost his mind
I sorta liked some of his stuff, a bit sad to see him go off the deep end like this.

Maddox is the grand daddy of comedic internet cynicism. He was extremely popular among early 2000's internet junkies.
What a name. Dick Masterson.

For the record, I actually tried talking to Maddox for months and hours on end trying him to get off this grudge and accept some of the mistakes that lead up this, including yelling at fans telling them that he doesn't owe them an explanation for why their podcast ended, and doing all sorts of petty shit like not mentioning Dick Masterson even once in the final episode. The guy has a serious case of narcissism, which if not exemplified by that, is exemplified by his podcast network called Madcast Media which has its own currency called Madbux. He rolled $30,000 from his advance from a book deal into his self-titled network, which isn't doing well.

Anyway, he would routinely tell me that he was going to ruin people's lives over this and I eventually gave up and said I wasn't okay with it anymore. I shared a couple funny conversations we had in an IRC which eventually made it onto Dick Masterson's Twitter which prompted him to do this:

I am seriously afraid for his mental health because he can not accept any wrong doing or any responsibility for his current position as someone who is constantly made fun of and not taken seriously. He always doubles down and blames everyone else. And he always strengthens his grudge against Dick Masterson and anyone associated with him. He's become his persona.
He's gone through and deleted every single comment on his reddit account linked to TBPITU innocuous or not. He's gone through videos and removed people associated with Dick Masterson in all of his old videos via YouTube's new post-editing suite (save for anything explicitly TBPITU related). And in this lawsuit, he's suing an ex-fan who started making fun of him under the name "Madcucks" after he gained some popularity within Dick's fanbase.

Dick Masterson was a guy who trolled people on Dr. Phil and became Maddox's co-host for The Biggest Problem in the Universe. Asterios was a reoccuring guest comedian on that podcast and both Maddox and Dick's show until Maddox told him he couldn't do both shows and began questioning his loyalty.

^ That's Dick Masterson. I wrote a theme song for Dick Masterson's podcast called The Dick Show, and I talk to him and Asterios semi-frequently.
I didn't expect this from him. But I'm glad for once to get an insider's perspective. I just hope It doesn't turn in to such a shitstorm that every trace of him disappears. I admit his more recent videos/articles have been on the shorter side, with some less interesting topics. But I still have been able to enjoy his comedy for years and years. Even if he's always been a bit of an ass. At least he was a funny ass, and a half-way smart one too.

Despite the fact that may sound like I'm angry, it's really the complete opposite. It's really upsetting for me and a lot of ex-fans of his who just wanted more content and less drama. But he has gotten into a weird position where if he accepts any fault, it becomes ego-shattering as well as a win to the person he hates more than anything, ever. He would have to accept that he's not the principled person he is but is instead someone who has legitimately affected people's lives for the worst. He would have to accept that someone who wrote The Alphabet of Manliness is attempting to get people fired for what he calls emotional distress.
Maddox is a little bitch and that's a shame cus I used to think he was the shit
fuck em
Wow I never realized you were a Facepunch poster when listening to the show. Yeah it is a shame that you tried so hard to get Maddox to stop ruining his own brand only for him to keep digging his own grave.
Honestly I didn't listen to any of his new show after he didn't thank Dick on the last episode of the old show, after all that he has done and this crazy shit I don't see how anybody can still be a fan of the guy.
I've been following the beef since it roughly started and I cant say that I actually expected Maddox to sink this low. He's completely gone off mental.
Quite the journey from being liked here and semi regular posted to people having enough of him, mostly because his quality took a huge dive at one point.
Now after no hearing about Maddox in ages he seems to have totally lost it for some reason. :v:
Is that what internet fame built on internet drama/cynicism ultimately leads to?

Doesn't Maddox have a history of mental illness? I don't think it went past anything like severe anxiety or depression, but could that be a factor in his behavior?
i feel like becoming internet famous is a dangerous path because most people are not equipped to handle fame. there is a reason people in hollywood have agents, people to help manage their fame.
I still have all the TBPITU podcasts.. knew there was a falling out between them, but had no idea it was this rediculous.
Doesn't Maddox have a history of mental illness? I don't think it went past anything like severe anxiety or depression, but could that be a factor in his behavior?
His sister committed suicide, and he's previously had severe depression.
Didn't this entire shitshow start just because Dick dated Maddox's ex-girlfriend? Not even like stole her from Maddox or anything, but like independently hooked up with her after she and Maddox broke up for a reason not related to Dick.
the "targeted harassment campaign" claims are just hilarious coming from maddox, the guy who made a video accusing dick of being a rape apologist and maintaining a 'rape list' that got him booted off of UCB, and got his girlfriend to call dick's girlfriend's job to try and get her fired
That's a shame to hear, I have one of Maddox's early books.
The whole lawsuit does not seem to be Maddox's style, just goes to show how much he has changed. I remember his humour was all about being tough and a general "fuck it" anti-pansy hyper-masculine attitude

Yeah, you're not gonna like his current style at all. He's been trying his hardest to denounce just about everything in his early books.

I've never been much of a podcast guy, so a lot of the more recent stuff he's done has gone right over my head. Like I posted earlier, I mainly sticked with his articles and videos. I'm surprised to hear he's writing off his earlier work.
Guess you could say that Maddox has become mad.

Maddox and Dick showed up to a wedding. Maddox was with his girlfriend at the time. He saw Dick leave with Maddox's ex. According to Dick and the ex, Maddox lost his mind.

This is poor quality, but this is Maddox actually disavowing his first book:

The reason for this is that after calling out Dick for being a "rape apologist", it backfired because people found out that in the Alphabet of Manliness, C is for copping a feel.
So this is all just a gross overreaction to something Maddox shouldn't have been upset about in the first place?
I keep thinking the thread title starts with "Maddox sucks Dick"
So this is all just a gross overreaction to something Maddox shouldn't have been upset about in the first place?
Yup, and he has endlessly tried to bury it or call out others for being at fault. He told me a lot of uncomfortable assertions about his ex actually being the fucked up person and just random fucked up claims about everyone, really. Everyone else is (and I'm not joking here), the psychopath unstable obsessive narcissist.
What the fuck happened to Maddox? His articles were the best thing on the internet but he has started acting like the ultimate pantywaist cuck in every regard since the last few years
Some people think that moving from Utah to LA seriously messed him up. He was involved with a lot of YouTubers (Mike Diva, Super Deluxe), executives for different forms of media, and Hollywood people. I think people go too far in saying he turned into a "cuck" or an "SJW", but I think in doing so he's wanted his character to be more tame and approachable around the likes of YouTube celebrities while also wanting to be a reputable and reasonable debater. And for wanting to be a reputable and reasonable debater, he's friends with Destiny and has a show where he debates himself. :\
Also just time in general, I think.
Not his own age, but he's been doing this for a veeery long time, and hardly anyone can actually keep the fire going for so long. Even if he didn't move he'd likely have changed just because people do.
I'm not familiar with the whole situation but the pattern of behavior here falls in line with classic NPD.
Unfortunately I don't think there's anything anyone can do for him. This is a real kick in the nuts because I love Maddox's material.
I always got the impression that the Maddox character was closer to his actual self than an actual character.
