Trump Team Fosters Fears He'll Adopt Alternative Economic Facts
President Donald Trump complains regularly about what he calls “fake news.” What’s got some statisticians worried, though, is the risk of doctored economic data coming from the administration itself. While there are government directives in place to prevent that from happening, the number crunchers worry that the president’s occasionally cavalier comments on the economy and economic statistics, and his apparent disdain for economists in general, could mean trouble ahead.
One month into his presidency, Trump has yet to nominate anyone to the Council of Economic Advisers, established in 1946 to provide presidents with objective economic analysis and advice. Indeed, staffers at the council complain that the White House seems to be giving short shrift to the regular reports they produce on the economy, a person familiar with the matter said on condition of anonymity.
Why were the memes about not understanding econ and making it up targeted at Bernie again?

Trump is going to utterly destroy the US economy - and the world economy as a whole - if he continues his delusional actions. Bloody remove him from power already.

Even Mike Pence would be preferable at this point.
Chances he'll say "Just print more money"?
Even Mike Pence would be preferable at this point.
honestly at this point despite how terrible mike pence is, at least he's an actual politician who would probably read the things he signs and not tweet all-caps threats toward the press and world leaders
i'd rather a shitty, corrupt politician be president than an unstable reality TV star who is equally shitty and corrupt

honestly i sort of hope if any of this comes to pass that we make sure he pays for the damage but we all know no matter what, eric and ivana and even baron will be standing in the wings ready to MAGA again

2019: American citizens are seen with wheelbarrows filled with 100 trillion dollar Trump notes to purchase half a loaf of Trump™ bread.

No man, baron will feel regret and make up for it when he turns 35.
"Trump" actually will be the greatest president we ever had, it just won't be Donald.
Never before have i wished that somebody would drop dead.
But Donald Trump should should just fucking drop dead already.

How much do we want to bet that Trump is going to replace one of the bills with his face on it.
Or god forbid establish a $1 gold coin with his face on it.

obama once floated a rediculous (but technically legal) option to issue a 1-Tn$ coin through executive order and pay our debt off with that during one of those big budget showdowns, essentially shuffling money around, also because he really couldnt do much to deal with a shut down government, but with trump who the fuck knows
Will he base his economy news and tactics on whatever FoxNews is broadcasting?
Chances he'll say "Just print more money"?
You know, I've always wondered, would that be a viable option in a centrally planned economy with a restricted market?
I feel like it may fuck with a country's GDP, but it seems more plausible in a country without capitalism.

Mike Pence is a crazy conservative, but he'd be less likely to listen to Steve Bannon, and that's a pretty good thing since Bannon is a straight up right wing extremist.
Pence would be pretty bad for domestic issues, but probably not as bad as Trump. He'd certainly be less likely to put us in a nuclear standoff.

I got the vibe he meant it as mostly a joke/insult over all the filibustering going on from the republicans.
AFAIK wasn't it because of the ACA act they went all out stupid during that?

I think that was mostly right "libertarians" who often respond to any criticism of capitalism with "LEARN SOME ECONOMICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" i.e. look how successful capitalism is judged by it's own metrics

As opposed to what metrics?

I believe the treasury will only put your face on money if you're dead.

Honestly, I'm on the fence about Pence. I feel like Trump, as evil and idiotic as he is, isn't competent enough to do serious lasting damage through legal means. Look at the I-Can't-Believe-They're-Not-Muslim ban. It was such shit and caused such a fucking storm that it was immediately shot down. Whereas, if Pence was in charge, I feel like he'd put up a target that actually takes a serious effort to shut down. I really don't know if the trade-off is worth it.
