The author of a coming young-adult novel about Anne Frank said in an interview that her book, which imagines a romantic relationship between Anne and a teenage boy who hid with her from the Nazis, was not exploiting the Holocaust or oversexualizing that famous young diarist. The novel, called “Annexed,” and written by Sharon Dogar, is told from the point of view of Peter van Pels, a teenage son of the Dutch family called the van Daans in Anne’s diaries. A report published Sunday in The Times of London said the novel included scenes of Peter yearning for and having a physically intimate relationship with Anne. But the book’s depiction of Anne and Peter was disputed by Buddy Elias, Anne’s only living relative. “Anne was not the child she is in this book,” Mr. Elias told The Times. “I also do not think that their terrible destiny should be used to invent some fictitious story.” In an interview with The Guardian, Ms. Dogar said she had corresponded with Mr. Elias about the project and said the novel did not overemphasize Anne’s sexuality. “The sexual awakening of Anne plays more of a major part in her diary than this book,” she said. The United States publication of “Annexed” is planned for Oct. 4 by Houghton Mifflin Books for Children.
but fanfiction is icky
This is not going to turn out well (except it will come out well monetarily for the author since the book is so controversial).

Surely this Anne Frank erotic fan-fiction is being entered into the Library of Congress as we speak.

I wasn't saying anything about the book itself, just that one person's comment.

Given statistics estimating frequency of homosexuality, I don't see how it would be surprising. If 1 in 10 (1 in 20? different sources seem to conflict) individuals are, then no doubt a large number of famous people of great historical mention have been as well.
We seem to make a big deal out of those things, speculating on conditions and diseases historical figures might have had. Statistically speaking, if those conditions occur in the same frequency (if not more often) that they do today, nearly all people of consequence would have something "off" about them.
Having read the diary myself, I'd be more inclined to believe she'd have been bisexual. Given her advances on the male which lived with them in the annex? (name? Peter was given in the copy I read, but wasn't that a pseudonym?)

Irony.
"No! I must kill the Nazis" she shouted.
The radio said, "No Anne, you are the Nazis"
And then Anne was a Mengele.

1 in 20 people are supposedly born leaders. Leaders would be the ones to make it in history books. Apparently 1 in 20 people are homosexual? Well there you have it. ALL of them were.
