• Amazon will now deliver packages on Sundays
In a surprising move that could give Amazon another huge advantage over rivals, the company on Monday announced that it will begin delivering packages to customers in two major metropolitan areas on Sundays. “We’re excited that now every day is an Amazon delivery day and we know our Prime members, who voraciously shop on Amazon, will love the additional convenience they will experience as part of this new service.” ” The new policy applies to Prime members and those without Amazon’s accelerated delivery service alike. Only eligible items will be delivered on Sundays, though Amazon says there are millions of items in its inventory that are eligible for Sunday deliveries. Amazon’s full press release follows below (which is in the link).
http://bgr.com/2013/11/11/amazon-sunday-deliveries-announcement/
They might process the orders but will UPS for example still deliver on Sunday?
Starting in LA and NYC metro areas right now. Also only applies to "eligible" items. Also it says for Prime members only. It is through the USPS.

I'm a member of prime and sometimes it's UPS, sometimes it's Lasership.
I'm no expert but it seems like USPS is becoming ultra competitive against UPS, and is winning.
I'm no expert but it seems like USPS is becoming ultra competitive against UPS, and is winning.
competition is good :v:
good, this will force business to keep going and make productivity better. just a personal experience, i'm not a fan of what China does for a lot of it's part, but they're fucking efficient. Any package I order comes within 2 days, rain or shine. looks like amazon's going for the gold too.
I'm no expert but it seems like USPS is becoming ultra competitive against UPS, and is winning.
I don't know if it's really a fair comparison when USPS runs billions in debt and UPS runs billions in profit.
More postal services need to do this.
I just started at Amazon last night. I like the idea of shopping for other people for 12 bucs an hour 10 hours a night.
Starting in LA and NYC metro areas right now. Also only applies to "eligible" items. Also it says for Prime members only. It is through the USPS.
Well I live in NYC and am a prime member, happy day :D
Currently this is only in LA and NYC and will be handled by USPS. USPS gets a lot of money for package delivery, while mail can occasionally cost them money. So by getting themselves into the parcel industry like this, they can hopefully dig themselves out of this money hole.
I never used Amazon(except for downloading free novels for my e-book). Is it a great/not so great service?
Hopefully this expands to more areas soon. EDIT: Amazon is amazing; I feel like a fan boy, but seriously, I'll keep resubing for Prime every year. Great customer service, free two day shipping, guaranteed release day delivery on movie/games; it's spoiled me.
Is it a great/not so great service?
As an Amazon customer for years, and an employee as of last night. Amazon strives for a positive customer experience. It's really quite cool how organized the warehouse I work at is.
God will surely smite them for this!!! Either that or Uncle Vernon will lose his shit.
kissass
For stating a fact about Amazon? Technically I don't even work for Amazon, I work for a third party within the building.

Well, Ship my Nexus 7 already then.
That's pretty awesome. Too bad I don't use amazon as much as I used to now.
Only in the US. Fuck the royal mail/UK delivery companies.
Only in the US. Fuck the royal mail/UK delivery companies.
I imagine we'll probably get it eventually, seeing as many UK couriers do actually perform Sunday deliveries. Hell we even get one day delivery because we're so much smaller than the US :v:
I'm no expert but it seems like USPS is becoming ultra competitive against UPS, and is winning.
Because USPS is losing a helluva lot of money because of internet mail.
Amazon is awesome and their customer service is stellar. Been shopping there for years and I'm never let down. Brilliant company, can't wait for this to roll out in the UK.
