WHEN: Tentatively, Saturday, October 19, 2013. The game is typically ~10AM to ~11PM, with a break for dinner. WHERE: Black Ops Airsoft in Penn Yan, upstate New York. This is a huge field with multiple objective points and a fully built shanty town in the middle. It's out in the woods, giving plenty of cover, but with open areas around the town and along the dirt trails snaking around the field. It's a good balance between Vietnam-esque jungle and open terrain. WHAT: Hazardous Containment is BOA's annual October game with a zombie twist. During the day portion (start until dinner), it's a classic force-on-force game with Tan versus Green, and an NPC science team working for one of the two teams. Objectives are varied and player-driven with little hand-holding. Last game as scientists we had to retrieve corpses, set up a gasoline generator, receive orders from the Red Queen over a PA system, and destroy evidence. The game is typically focused on territory control, with discrete capture points allowing respawns around the field. During the night portion, the game changes considerably. Now all the players are on the same team, save a few zombie players who start out in the woods. As the area is usually overcast, and it's in a rural area of New York and almost total tree cover, it gets VERY dark- perfect atmosphere for a zombie game, and the zombie players really go all-out on the atmosphere. There's nothing quite like the panic when the generator suddenly cuts due to sabotage, and the lit town suddenly goes dark. Last game we spent thirty minutes slowly creeping through the woods with an IRNV scope, looking for an IR strobe on an objective out in the woods, keeping a lookout for zombies and rogue humans alike. The typical player count is 80-150. The price is usually $25. For a well-coordinated op it's a hell of a bargain. WHO: I'm posting this to see if anyone here is interested in going.Keep in mind everything I'm posting here is tentative, since we're still waiting on official confirmation, but I figured better to start planning early. Timebomb, Notrabies, and I are already set on going and have Timebomb's permission to crash at his place about half an hour from the field. If you're interested in coming let me know. We'll be allocating people to either the science team (more roleplay, 'special' objectives) and/or the allied team (more trigger time) depending on how many people we get. Let me know what you think. Here's some footage and photos from last game:
that looks sick [editline]29th August 2013[/editline] wow 4 hours from me
Almost set on attendance, unless my finances are still in the shitter by then (very unlikely). Also, I'd imagine Catbarf and I will convoy/carpool up, so if people want to join in we can probably arrange that.
Important, relevant details: -Standard muzzle velocity is 350fps with 0.25s, which is 390fps with 0.2s. You can shoot 400 but you'll be limited to semi-only. Absolutely nothing over 400, unless you have discussed it with the field owners beforehand in the case of DMRs and MGs. -Teams have historically been marked by tan or green shemaghs but this could change. -Thunder Bs, Nerf footballs launched from GLs, blank-firing grenades, all allowed. If detonating (or impacting, in the case of footballs) in the same room OR within 15ft of a player, it's a kill. -Before they've used medic bands. You get hit, you go down, a comrade uses the band to medic you back in. You get hit again, you go respawn at the nearest respawn point. No word on whether this will be the system this year. -No full-auto indoors whatsoever. Semi is fine. No mandatory bang rule (meaning, you don't have to take it) but it is a courtesy. -Full-face protection is mandatory, and eyewear must be full-seal. -It tends to get a little chilly out in the woods. Gas guns can be unreliable depending on model and brand. Just something to know. If you have any questions feel free to ask and I'll answer to the best of my ability.
*Might* carpool up depending on money, work, etc [editline]30th August 2013[/editline] I'm in Livingston Manor, downstate from Penn Yann on the east side of Binghamton, it's not a bad trip, only three hours for me.
God that looks fantastic. I wish I could fly out to NY and join you guys. :C
if anybody from Florida wants to go and take me with them please dooo ill pay whatever it takes if its a roadtrip but i cant afford a flight

I'm down 17 towards BOA past middletown, so you'd essentially pick Code up and then i'd be the last person to be picked up before we headed upstate. I'm right on the highway you take to get from Middletown to Penn Yan.
If you want to Pick me up at HVA I'll be there. [editline]30th August 2013[/editline] Or if you want to be super cool you can pick me up at my house, I live in Schenectady c:
I live in CA. Please feel free to swing by and pick me up too. C:
If it wasn't so far, Ill see what I can do if you would have me.
this sounds fucking fantastic would be worth coming down to, but it's only a one day thing?
this sounds fucking fantastic would be worth coming down to, but it's only a one day thing?
Yeah, but we're all gonna be driving up/meeting up Friday, and it looks like we'll be hanging out for at least some time on Sunday. Not sure if this is the trip you're looking for but it could be a lot of fun. Alternatively, I have some very basic plans for a meetup over winter break so we can do something that doesn't interfere with people's schooling.
this sounds fucking fantastic would be worth coming down to, but it's only a one day thing?
If you're near the border it's probably not very far at all, try plugging it into Mapquest.
He's 2400 miles away
If he comes its entirely possible that I'll pick up/convoy with Codemoney, so if the HVA boys want to meet at one place we could all head up together and split the fuel.
I'll come if you want to grab me. My place is always open as a pit stop. I prefer a more Roleplay-y team myself but I'll do either or.
Hmm, due to car-space and directional requirements, it looks like we won't be able to pick you guys up. However, if you guys can get a convoy together we can meet you along the way or meet you at the destination. If Metalman comes you might be along his way so you could try and set something up with him.
Whoops, I just realized I dun goofed on the title. The upcoming game is HC5, last year's was HC4.
Hhmmmmm this could be a possiblity, but i work Saturdays. Ill try and see if i could do sonething about that.
this is literally the best thing ever and you should all come so we can do some SCIENCE
Yeah, but we're all gonna be driving up/meeting up Friday, and it looks like we'll be hanging out for at least some time on Sunday. I may do it. If I get my new Tacoma by than I'll convoy up with you guys, but right now I don't actually have a vehicle but we're going to make an offer for one this Tuesday or so, I hope by the end of the week I'll be tooling around in a new truck.
I live about 4 hours away in Monroe. Might save up to go for this one, dunno about carpooling though.
You're in Monroe? Wow you're close to HVA. Also my car seats four if Code and Stabby want to carpool with me. My trunk will fit all of our shit, too.
You're in Monroe? Wow you're close to HVA. Also my car seats four if Code and Stabby want to carpool with me. My trunk will fit all of our shit, too.
You should also try to get Kath so we can get the full HVA experience.
He's gonna have to come down to me, I'm not driving all the way up to Schnectady lol
He's gonna have to come down to me, I'm not driving all the way up to Schnectady lol
BAM
If you want to Pick me up at HVA I'll be there.
HVA's also 120 miles round-trip in the wrong direction from Penn Yan from me lol, it'd add about two hours to the trip. The best method would be if Code picked him up. Or Stabby and then they met with Code and then with me at my house since my house is in the direction of PY.
I could probably come if somebody could pick me up in DC, and take me back to DC after.
