Whats funny is that the website [url]www.joinsg.net[/url] exists but because the browser in the overlay is shit it wont work without manually adding www.
Minecraft maps aren't hated for nitpicky shit like this, it's because there's an overwhelming amount of them and most of it is indeed of dubious quality and/or are remakes of already existing maps. What doesn't help is the already present stigma due to the game's astronomical popularity and the Youtube communities still trying to squeeze the value out of it in recent years or how maps like these are generally easier to make overall. As a small-time mapper myself, I'm just annoyed by the whole thing overall but it isn't exactly surprising to see it happen to GMod of all games, for that matter, any Source game period. I can heavily understand the resort to having to create something more simpler due to Hammer's limitations, but I'd rather make a finished product that everyone can enjoy instead of doing something that's been tired to death already. [editline]May 23, 2016[/editline] Also as a sidenote: 67thway = bab's first map no matter which way you slice it just like the majority of TTT maps that aren't eye candy remakes, and the video itself was trying way too hard to be funny.
you know the oversaturation's a problem when there's TTT servers dedicated to minecraft maps only, as well as servers that specifically don't have them edit: to be honest these days the most defining feature of a TTT map is whether it's a minecraft map or not
Coming from someone who had no idea that Minecraft-themed TTT maps were so commonly hated, this video looked akin to an adult criticizing a child's macaroni art. Yeah it gets tiring but do you have to be such an unfunny dick about it wow Also for someone so nitpicky about the low-effort Minecraft map's lack of detail, he sure didn't have a problem with that dev texture room in the other map. This video is cherry-picking as all hell
It is exactly to battle this tendency of desastrously ugly TTT maps that I am working on porting CSGO maps into TTT maps, after altering them significantly in Hammer to make them as appropriate in TTT as possible. Do you guys think it's a good idea? Could servers with eye-candy maps (without neglecting gameplay of course) help to revitalize GMod and TTT?
this guy wasn't even playing multiplayer, it'd feel less forced if he were actually playing a game rather than loading up a map in singleplayer and moaning about it the map at the end was fucken awful anyway [editline]23rd May 2016[/editline] [QUOTE=Loadingue;50376509]It is exactly to battle this tendency of desastrously ugly TTT maps that I am working on porting CSGO maps into TTT maps, after altering them significantly in Hammer to make them as appropriate in TTT as possible. still less dislikes than COD :v:
Minecraft TTT maps are pretty bad because the community is bad. That's about it really. Most of the mappers who start out with Minecraft maps usually end up becoming far better mappers or drop the Source engine all together. For example, the TTT/RP mapper Asherack started out with a Minecraft Deathrun map, and his latest map was a Rats map which is pretty much one of the few maps you'll find on servers these days. The reality is that most people who start mapping tend to do it for one map, and then quit when they realize how boring it can be.

Then I fix all the bugs, including performance-related, then I open up some areas that feel too linear, I add tactical paths for TTT, sometimes roof access if it's not too much. It takes some time, but so far the results are great. Maps like Vertigo and Militia feel better in TTT than they do in CSGO, but there are dozens community-made maps that would make outstanding TTT maps as well.
It makes me sad that someone can put absolutely no effort into a Minecraft map and it gets tons of subscribers and even servers dedicated to it Then someone spends a really long time on a map and no one gives a shit because it's not based on a pre-existing popular thing Although on the other hand, this pretty much describes the entire gmod section of the Steam Workshop
it's thread titles like these that make me regret my username of choice.

Pandering content nearly always rises to the top. The average player just doesn't care about how much time or skill it took to make something, but if it's based on something they know or like. I'm an offender of this, though. About two years ago I wanted to see how Dust2 would look at night, so I modified the lighting in the map. I thought it looked neat, and left it at that. Eight months later I noticed there was some interest in this, so I tossed it onto the workshop. It's been the top rated item for over a year now.
Just gimme dm_equilibre 24/7 and I'm set.
the man talking is more cringy than any minecraft map
