"should have worn boots but it'd be obvious what we were doing" Yeah, sure, but I'd still have worn them.
Anything but vans really
"should have worn boots but it'd be obvious what we were doing" Yeah, sure, but I'd still have worn them.
Or they could have just put them in their fucking backpacks and then put them on when they were going in...
All I can think when I see videos like this is how they will eventually inhale asbestos fibers and significantly lower their life expectancy.
didn't they slap a fallout shelter sign on anything with a concrete basement back in the day?
Not sure where I've read it, but the best outfit to wear when you go are going to stuff like this is a high-vis jacket, a helmet, boots and a clipboard. Like you are an inspector or something. Not casual clothes, sunglasses, and a very visible go-pro camera. The best way to not attract attention, is to attract attention.
All I can think when I see videos like this is how they will eventually inhale asbestos fibers and significantly lower their life expectancy.
When he was moving the curtain and all the artex was falling off I cringed a little. It's either lead paint or asbestos-reinforced, because that was all the rage back then
I'm assuming all the paint peeling off is lead paint or maybe latex? All I know is that lead paint is very toxic and requires a ton money to professionally remove.
Why would there be so much security around an abandoned mental asylum?
Yeah, I would definitely wear a breathing mask for this. So unprepared. They brought backpacks, couldn't they think to put some supplies in them?
Why would there be so much security around an abandoned mental asylum?
To prevent young people from going in, inhaling asbestos and lead flakes and not living past 50?
"should have worn boots but it'd be obvious what we were doing" Yeah, sure, but I'd still have worn them.
Like the backpacks and cameras wouldn't make it obvious
My favorite part has to be the messages left behind by the previous explorers "thanks for the bridge" etc
All I can think when I see videos like this is how they will eventually inhale asbestos fibers and significantly lower their life expectancy.
Or histoplasmosis, a fungal infection from mold that grows on bird shit. You basically have to tough through it for months and hope it dies, though it can go dormant. The only effective anti-fungal treatment can kill you, so its only a last line defense. Friend of mine got it at a haunted house thing that's now shut down afaik
Why the fuck didn't they wear boots. They already were likely suspicious as fuck could've just worn hiking boots and at least not get their feet soaked.
I've stepped on boards with nails through them and gotten stabbed in the feet before, boots are a requirement.
Fuck the boots, what about masks? I wouldn't dare set foot in an old place like that without gloves or masks, and eye protection to boot.
Fuck the boots, what about masks? I wouldn't dare set foot in an old place like that without gloves or masks, and eye protection to boot.
And you would absolutely be correct. I used to know a couple of people from my local urban exploration group, even went on a couple of tours with them and their rules were pretty fucking strict about this kind of stuff. Masks, gloves, boots, good pants that won't instantly break if something pokes you etc. Don't think they required any eye protection though. These guys are idiots, bascially.
Who was that urbex guy that used to post here who actually knew what he was doing? Still fascinating to see that these are still around used to have an abandoned mental hospital near a friends, fucking spooky when you saw it at night.

[editline]5th August 2016[/editline] Actually looks like hes still active, just haven't seen him post on here https://www.youtube.com/user/TheUnknownCameraman/videos
Normally these guys actually bring their supplies. No idea what they were doing this time.
Shit's tense as fuck, knowing the history of the place.
When he was moving the curtain and all the artex was falling off I cringed a little. But these guys are still idiots for not bringing extra safety supplies.

Not censoring their faces or voices! They gonna get arrested the moment someone sees this video and decides to call the cops on them.

It's a bit difficult balancing trips and full time jobs. As for the video it was a great explore, but they should have definitely had masks. The one guys face is inches from asbestos around that pipe at 14:03.
Did anyone else notice the seemingly clean helmet on the ground at 15:17? Creepy
