• Trump: Top CPD officer says 'tough police tactics' can end crime in a week | CPD: We never said that
The Chicago Police Department denied Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's claim this week that he met with a "top" Chicago officer and argued the city's violence would not be solved with "tough police tactics." "We've discredited this claim months ago," CPD spokesperson Frank Giancamilli said Tuesday in a statement. "No one in the senior command at CPD has ever met with Donald Trump or a member of his campaign." Trump said in an interview Monday that he believed Chicago's violence could be stopped using "tough police tactics," telling Fox News' Bill O'Reilly that he met a "top" Chicago officer who reportedly said he could "stop much of this horror show that’s going on" within a single week. Trump added that he knows officers in Chicago who would put an end to violent crime "if they were given the authority to do it," a claim that Giancamilli refuted. "Beyond that, the best way to address crime is through a commitment to community policing and a commitment to stronger laws to keep illegal guns and repeat violent offenders off the street," Giancamilli added. Trump told O'Reilly he didn’t ask the officer for specifics on the plan because he isn’t the mayor of Chicago, but added that police would be "much tougher than they are right now."
Source: http://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/chicago-police-respond-donald-trump-chicago-violence-can-be-stopped-in-a-week-391116511.html?_osource=SocialFlowTwt_CHBrand This reminds me about his NFL comments. He's making these very public statements as if they'll somehow never reach the people he's talking about. It's very strange.
And yet his followers will still believe his statement blindly.
This may sound comical, but seriously, beware of those who promise tough action for quick results. Trump may lose the elections, but there are plenty of 'strongmen' who are doing just fine all over the world.
Well, I mean, Drumpf does have a point. Strongarm policing would solve the problem.........and cause even more. Due process? Ppfffft, who needs it. Probable cause? You're probably a criminal! Good thing he wont be changing CPD.
wonder if Trump is taking notes from the Phillippines
Trump, making up imaginary conversations? NOOO bae would never do that
Since when does "top officer" equate to someone in senior command? He may have just spoken to a well respected sergeant.
Since when does "top officer" equate to someone in senior command? He may have just spoken to a well respected sergeant.
That's ridiculous. You don't refer to a 'top' anything unless you mean seniority.
That's ridiculous. You don't refer to a 'top' anything unless you mean seniority.
I don't know how it works in other places, but people where I live don't generally refer to the senior staff as "officers." I've never heard the chief of police, for example, just referred to as an "officer." I would assume that a" top officer" was a well-respected policeman who had received an award or something.
Drumpf
While I agree with the rest of the post, making fun of his ancestor's name doesn't solve anything. It's the same kind of person that will say Hillary is ugly because they need some sort of shallow insult to show how much they don't like her.
Since when does "top officer" equate to someone in senior command? He may have just spoken to a well respected sergeant.
Top officer in Chicago is referring to the Superintendant. Which is appointed by the Mayor and acts as the chief of CPD.
of course we arent tough enough on crime its so obvious now since every inner city ghetto has had a riot in recent years over police brutality
Trump's appeals to authority are hilarious, he always uses those as statements in speeches "this very powerful guy agrees with what I say" rather than giving any actual reason or logic. It's a very good way of appealing to less knowledgeable people, rather than giving reason just say "this person agrees with me so I must be right". Now we find out at least one is just an outright lie too, I guess it shouldn't be a surprise.

It seems like he has a friend for every political occasion. And of course, they all completely agree with his policy. Even better, they come up to him and tell him issues so he can think of the solution. Dear leader can solve anything!
He says the same thing about absolutely everything. "x" would be "tougher, stronger, better". He never says anything specific, but because the press cover him so much they give the illusion that he must have said SOMETHING at SOME POINT. But he never has. Idk what to call this anymore, non-propaganda?
Trump bears the hallmarks of every third world dictator ever. Including wishing to limit freedom of the press and arrest or sue critics. That even a tiny portion of the population would actually consider electing him is ludicrous.
