• CFPB Drops Investigation Into Payday Lender That Contributed To Mick Mulvaney's Campaigns
Mulvaney has received $57,100 in campaign contributions from the payday lending industry over the course of his political career, according to the National Institute on Money in State Politics. As head of the CFPB, Mulvaney is now in position to regulate the payday lending industry, but the former member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus told USA Today in December those campaign contributions did not create any conflicts of interest.

Last week, the CFPB announced it would reconsider rules governing payday lending it finalized in October under Cordray. The rules required payday lenders to verify borrowers could pay back the loans before lending. Then on Thursday, the CFPB dropped a lawsuit it filed last year against four payday lenders located on Indian reservations for allegedly charging interest rates between 440 and 950 percent.
http://www.ibtimes.com/political-capital/cfpb-drops-investigation-payday-lender-contributed-mick-mulvaneys-campaigns [t]https://i.imgur.com/96rAB8b.png[/t] fairly short article, but there's more info about this around the web.
but 950% interest is perfectly fine for consumers. What do you expect people in economic hardship to do if they can't get access to any money at all, go on welfare? There's no way you can justify payday lenders in modern society, their entire model is built upon ever growing debt and an endless cycle of refinances and extensions.
This was the entire point behind putting a slimeball like Mulvaney in charge of the CFPB: dismantle it from the inside. Same deal with Scott Pruitt and the EPA. It's so transparently corrupt it's amazing how brazen they are.
My state (SD) voted to cripple payday loans by holding them to reasonable sub-100 intrests rates a few years ago, and the result was hillarious. All the payday loan places vacated their dingy corner lots in the poorer parts of town, and the turdburgler in charge of dollar loan center closed up all his businesses like a crybaby (dlc, a racetrack, a pawn stars ripoff, an edgy radio station, ect) and left for good. Fuckin good riddance.

Doesn't the Bible say that Jesus threw moneylenders out of the Temple of Jerusalem? Seems the gop forgot that part
Doesn't the Bible say that Jesus threw moneylenders out of the Temple of Jerusalem? Seems the gop forgot that part
Jesus didn't have much good things to say about rich people in general. If you follow how conservative christians cite the Bible, it's mostly Old Testament, St Paul's Letters and John's Apocalypse; that is to say, orders and punishments, fire and brimstone. Conspicuously they don't much like to cite Jesus, who advocated forgiveness, pacifism and poverty. GOP is a party of plutocrats who use christianity just to rile people up, core messages be damned. This case is a sterling example of that.
Doesn't the Bible say that Jesus threw moneylenders out of the Temple of Jerusalem? Seems the gop forgot that part
The GOP forgets everything. They're not Christian, they just use the title. They're not Conservative, they just use the title. It's a pretty apt metaphor to call them lizard-people, because, like chameleons, they change their coat depending on how they feel. Or, really, whatever color pisses the Democrats off the most. Family Values? Totally cool with supporting a pedophile and child rapist. No big deal that the president cheated on his wife with a porn star when she was recovering from childbirth. Fiscal Responsibility? Passing the yearly budget doesn't matter. We should spend billions on a big wall. More money for the military, but let's use the healthcare of sick children as a bargaining chip. Now that we're in power, let's increase the deficit. Lower taxes as much as you can, let the Democrats try to balance the deficit later. Law and Order? Tough on Crime? Fuck the FBI, the CIA, the NSA, and the Supreme Court. Police who routinely break the law and abuse their position of authority are just a few bad apples. Civil asset forfeiture is nice and fair. Illegal treasonous collaboration with an enemy state trying to destabilize the nation isn't worth impeaching anyone. Over 99% of Congress voted for this law, and I signed it, but why should we enforce anti-corruption sanctions anyways? Small Government? States' Rights? Let us in your uterus. Weed will ruin your life, because we'll have the DEA bust down your door and throw you in jail if you try it. If you shelter illegal immigrants we're going to subpoena you and have ICE break down your door. BIGGER MILITARY, MORE TANKS NOW, FEED ME. Party of Lincoln? This confederate flag is heritage, not hate. Confederate statues are just honoring the memory of the soldiers who died, like that 100-foot carving of Jefferson Davis, Lee, and Stonewall Jackson at Stone Mountain. It's respectful! Moral Majority? Personal Responsibility? Literally any tagline, slogan, or policy the GOP has ever claimed? All of 'em are lies. They're a party of amorality, criminality, irresponsibility, anti-governance, oppression, revisionism, hatred, spite, nationalism, warfare, flag fetishism, discrimination, hypocrisy, double standards, and greed. Especially greed. America has no conservative party. It has a reactionary party pretending to be conservative.
^ you got 2 parties in america, the corporate party and the racist corporate party. the gop is way more disgusting than the corporate democrats however, they are just evil. they have never done anything for the average american and they never will, they are enemies of the country.

I can't tell based on how you've worded shit here.
Hey sorry if my zinger post riled anyone up (lord knows the gop do a good enough job doing that themselves)
Are you genuinely saying the democrats are "Just evil"? I can't tell based on how you've worded shit here.
no i was saying that the gop is just evil.
