holy shit
Security images from a residence in the last 27th in Torrinha, Sao Paulo - BR have caught a serious car accident. A 25yo cyclist got hit by a car in an intersection downtown. The impact was so severe the youngster got thrown several meters away from the point of impact. The bycicle he was using "took off" and hit the roof of a nearby residence - where the footage has been taken from. The accident was early in the 27th, at 12.38pm, in the intersection of the Augusta Balbina st. with Guilherme Perlati st. The cyclist crossed without paying attention to the "stop" sign
such bullshit
when he got surprised by the vehicle. As for eyesight witnesses, the driver took off without helping the victim.
http://g1.globo.com/sp/bauru-marilia/noticia/2014/06/ciclista-e-arremessado-em-colisao-e-bicicleta-voa-para-telhado-de-casa.html
Title made me think the bike flew away thanks to witchcraft
Source is broken. [editline]1st July 2014[/editline] Shouldn't have run a red light, by doing so he puts himself and others in danger.
Stop at stop signs, dumbass.
Source is broken.
repaired!
Jesus Christ, that bike got some air. Hope the cyclist recovers.
Sucks for the cyclist but he ran a stop sign. Should've known better.
How about don't hit and run? I love how you all blame the cyclist first and the driver as an afterthought. [editline]1st July 2014[/editline] "FUCKING CYCLISTS GOING THROUGH STOP SIGNS" "oh yeah hit an run is bad too I guess"
Now that is a tit-for-tat.

[editline]1st July 2014[/editline] "FUCKING CYCLISTS GOING THROUGH STOP SIGNS" "oh yeah hit an run is bad too I guess"
As a cyclist, I get pissed when other cyclists don't follow road rules to a 'T'. This was absolutely avoidable if he had have stopped appropriately. That said, the hit'n'run is inexcusable.

i dont understand how people can be so careless with their lives i was at this intersection once (which has almost 0 visibility to the sides due to buildings) and this cyclist just flies right before my eyes at warp 10 with a complete disregard for his own safety [editline]1st July 2014[/editline]
The cyclist broke the law and got himself hurt, the driver broke the law and got somebody else hurt.
no one is arguing against this????
combination, car was probably going too fast but that cyclist didn't even slow down to look let alone stop.
as someone who bikes often in heavy residential and city areas, I'm always dumbfounded when people don't pay attention when coming up to any kind of intersection like that. I don't care if the car had a stop sign and the bike didn't, this was the exact thing you need to be paranoid about as you approach roadways

what kind of awful attitude is this? traffic accidents suck, but even if the biker had run a stopsign on the way home from a bank robbery he didn't deserve what he got. The driver had no way to react to avoid the accident (was there a stopsign for his side though?), but hitting and running is fucking despicable in any case, let alone when you absolutely trash a human being. A huge problem right now is that people fear the repurcussions of the legal system so much they'd ditch like that. Involuntary manslaughter still gets you prison time if it can even vaguely be proven you somehow could have prevented it (which in driving cases you're always blamed for not going slow enough to stop). On top of this, depending on who was at the wheel, they could have a previous record or be a minority with greater fear of landing a heavier sentence. It's a shit situation in a lot of respects
no one is arguing against this????
What are you talking about? Everyone talks like the cyclist wants to get hit, but doesn't mention that the car did a hit and run.
Stop at stop signs, dumbass.

Shouldn't have run a red light, by doing so he puts himself and others in danger.
edit:
what kind of fuckwit attitude is this? traffic accidents suck, but regardless if the biker had run a stopsign on the way home from a bank robbery he didn't deserve what he got. The driver did nothing wrong up until impact and had no way to avoid the accident, but hitting and running is fucking despicable in any case, let alone when you absolutely trash a human being. It's a shit situation and everybody here is a victim of different terrors
So you're defending hit and run then? Also, you realize this is in a small town in Brazil, right? The driver has already been identified, it's not like running away was a good option at all. Not even remotely a good option.
The cyclist was a dipshit and didn't pay attention, regardless of what happened afterwards. He caused his situation but still didn't deserve what happened. Nobody's arguing that the car isn't at fault for anything and you're acting like this is an entirely different situation
It all could have been avoided if the biker had just stopped at the stop sign like he is supposed. Yes the hit and run is horrible, and maybe the driver was speeding (we don't really know this). No one is saying the driver didn't fuck up too. But this is CLEARLY the perfect example of why cyclists always need to follow the rules of the road. They're sitting exposed on a ~15 pound metal frame, up against an essentially armored 1 ton vehicle likely going much faster than they are. Do the math. "Sharing the Road" needs to go both ways, cyclists shouldn't be allowed to run stop signs and red lights anymore than a driver and this video is the perfect reason why.
What are you talking about? Everyone talks like the cyclist wants to get hit, but doesn't mention that the car did a hit and run.
idk how you twist this into "the driver did nothing wrong" not everyone adheres to your weird confirmation issues

[editline]1st July 2014[/editline] "FUCKING CYCLISTS GOING THROUGH STOP SIGNS" "oh yeah hit an run is bad too I guess"
No. That's just the order of events. Cyclist went through a stop sign and the driver hit and run. I think you're just trying to start an argument for the fun of it.
What are you talking about? Everyone talks like the cyclist wants to get hit, but doesn't mention that the car did a hit and run. edit: So you're defending hit and run then? Also, you realize this is in a small town in Brazil, right? The driver has already been identified, it's not like running away was a good option at all. Not even remotely a good option.
Seriously? No really, do you seriously think that any of those are defending the hit and run simply because they didn't mention it? The bicyclist obviously was a complete dumbass for running the stop sign and suffered the consequences for it. Now then, is that mentioning anything about the hit and run at all, or even displaying my opinion of it? No, I prioritized the person which caused the whole situation and the greater idiot. The other guy likely had panicked and left due to it. Is that defending him? No, it was still the wrong decision and is morally unjustifiable.
both sides fucked up
What are you talking about? Everyone talks like the cyclist wants to get hit, but doesn't mention that the car did a hit and run.
Yeah, because pointing out the principal person to blame for this accident is saying that a hit-and-run is totally okay. Make no mistake, a hit-and-run is never excusable, the run part is at best understandable. But hey, not mentioning a hit-and-run is apparently equal to pretending it doesn't exist.
In areas like this the top speed is 40km/h, this guy was way above the allowed and got someone seriously injured in the process. No matter how dumb the cyclist was, the driver is the one to blame here.

Now on the hit and run part that blame goes fully on the driver of the car.
