Possible serial killer on the loose in Phoenix, Arizona
Lately, when evening comes, crowds in West Phoenix start to clear from neighborhood grocery stores. Concerned parents call their children inside and then some hunker down in back bedrooms to stay safe.
All because there may be a serial killer who’s terrorizing their town.
Unarmed volunteers patrol the streets searching for signs of trouble. “We met up at a grocery store parking lot on a Friday evening, which is payday for people so it should be crowded, but that parking lot was like a ghost town,” Mike Upchurch, with the Phoenix chapter of the Guardian Angels, told NBC News. “People are afraid of what’s going on.”
Police say there have been five unsolved homicides in the Phoenix neighborhood of Maryvale since April that have too may similarities for investigators to ignore.
Isn't the chance of catching a serial killer often really low or does that depend entirely on the country/amount of resources available?
Either way I hope they catch him/her.

if they have no set target profile or pattern they are very difficult to catch

It depends on that, along with how intelligent/lucky the offender it. Although, I can't imagine this guy is leaving much evidence if he just shoots the victim and flees, granted he's taking the shell casings with him.

Can't talk about worldwide but I had a few classes of operative case analysis/criminal profiling and almost all serial killers/killers get caught over here (more than 90%). It's why in germany we have less than 100 people working as "profilers" because it just is not needed.
But I know for a fact that the situation in the USA is very different and they have tons of people working in the field.
So yeah it totally depends on geographics and ressources available.

Germany is known for getting shit done right and responsibly without even breaking a sweat though
And america is known for....
....Yeeeaaah....exactly
I wouldn't bet on this guy (if it even is the same guy) getting caught anytime soon
Unless it's one of those freak accident arrests
Ontopic i wonder what the patterns are that hints hints a serial killer?
well, to whoever lives in the surrounding areas, be careful yo.
Well shit, one of my good friends lives in Phoenix.

What's the difference?
I wonder if we had CCTV cameras everywhere like the UK, would people like this be easier to catch?

Let's find out!

I really doubt it. It'd just shit on any notion of privacy and still fail to catch criminals because wearing a mask really isn't that hard.
What's the difference?
The clearance rate for murder cases is like 60% in the USA, while Germanys is something like 95%.
Or if you're asking why there is such a drastic difference it comes down to human and financial resources. The FBI invented all the methods used over here so it's not like we found some better way to catch killers.

You'd be surprised, a couple years back a friend of a friend got stabbed to death and they caught the guy quick as fuck, by the time the news got me he was dead they already had the guy thanks to CCTV, and he got charged despite mass witness intimidation and false testimonies due to the CCTV evidence

No thanks mate. No Nanny state juuuuuuust yet
Guess I won't be going North of the river for a while. I'm not sure why he/she would choose this time of year though, it's hot as hell here (mid 90s at 8 in the mornings recently).

I read a report about some guy in the UK raping two women within hours of each other, all caught on CCTV, and they still haven't apprehended him. CCTV only does so much.
