I thought you could only vote for someone who won a State.
I thought you could only vote for someone who won a State.
Funny thing is Bernie won Indiana.
Good on this guy. Need more like him.
Just vote for Clinton please.
Bernie's got a chance!!!
Just vote for Clinton please.
It's pretty much tradition with faithless electors I think. They hardly ever actually believe they're going to change the outcome, but they just want to make a statement.
Just vote for Clinton please.
Him voting for Sanders really doesn't change much besides the fact that he isn't following the will of the voter. Hillary has a 0% chance of electors flipping in her favor, the best case scenario is that ~37 Trump electors flip to any other candidate (most likely republican) as this will not give him the majority needed and the house would choose the president (also republican).
Geez, that's the worst choice of them all
Just vote for Clinton please.
Why? Trump wins either way. It's pretty much why I voted for Gary Johnson, I knew Clinton would win my state no matter what I did so it didn't matter.
So you mean there's still hope!?!?!?!?
So you mean there's still hope!?!?!?!?
for bernie, no for jeb, yes
for bernie, no for jeb, yes
The Guacening rises.
I thought you could only vote for someone who won a State.
Bernie won Maine by a landslide during the primary, so it's more of a symbolic gesture than anything else. Being a Mainer myself, I'm pretty proud that Shepherd has the balls to make a statement like this, knowing full well the kind of hate mail and death threats he'll probably get.
for bernie, no for jeb, yes
jeb is a mess.
for bernie, no for jeb, yes
Jeb would be the coziest POTUS. He's like an empty nester who wants grandkids to dote on.
He can still win!
Why? Trump wins either way.
jeb is a mess.
HONK HOOONK (TAPS MICROPHONE) [editline]19th December 2016[/editline] I like the statement but i think its just proof of how bad the system is.
I would be all for the electors forgoing both Trump and Clinton in favor of Bernie in the white house. It would cause more chaos (in a good way) and it would be a positive outcome to this shit show of an election
for bernie, no for jeb, yes
Jeb! surge imminent! Slow and steady, little guy. Slow and steady.
Just this one guy voting Bernie will cement Bernie on the 2016 electoral map forever - the first time a third party candidate has gotten an electoral vote since George Wallace. Maine will have to be tri-colored, the first time that's ever occurred in US history, because Hillary will hold 2 EC votes, Trump holds 1 EC vote, and Bernie will get 1 through a faithless elector. That's a first, ever - the triple crosshatch covering Maine is the only time three candidates have each won an electoral vote from a single state. This is a great symbolic gesture, really. It cements Bernie onto the electoral map and permanently marks down his influence on the 2016 election. I'll just be a little pissed if there actually is a large group of faithless electors that go Hillary and she only loses by one EC vote because of this guy. Then it's just funny and sad at the same time.
I hope somehow hillary manages to lose by 1 vote because of this :v:
I hope somehow hillary manages to lose by 1 vote because of this :v:
There would be an uproar, and not because this guy voted for Bernie but because that would mean quite a few more faithless electors voting for Clinton rather than Trump
why do people beat a dead horse?

Stop putting your hope in the Electoral college.

Considering Sanders wasn't nominated, even if a majority of electors put his name down, it wouldn't be legal.
If this comes down to his vote his family will need to go into protective custody.
Doesn't a faithless vote not actually count for anything? Considering Sanders wasn't nominated, even if a majority of electors put his name down, it wouldn't be legal.
Faithless votes count, and can be cast for literally anyone. There was a case in 2004 where an elector accidentally voted for "John Ewards", who doesn't even exist, and that vote was considered valid. You might be thinking of what happens if the EC deadlocks and the election goes to the House. There, they are forced to choose from the top three candidates who received votes in the Electoral College. In theory, if the EC gave 269 votes to Clinton and 269 to Sanders, the House would be unable to elect Trump even if they unanimously wanted to.
